If we scrap the 'national' categories (Italy one-dayers, Coupe de France, Americas), it would feel weird to me to replace them with a.o. the "Belgian Continental Dominator".

How about then just "The Continental Dominator"? The 2018 version of Jensen or Cerny or Britton or whoever, that will rack up the points at the CT level.

Similarly another category that is rather limiting is "The Random Russian". Unless you take the category literally, there are only going to be a handful of good Russian picks. "The Random Eastern European" instead?

Just so I get this clear in my head. The rider has to ride for Continental team? ie not just dominate races that take place in a geographic area. This would exclude a lot of  PC / WT riders on French / Belgian teams where they ride a lot of races on their national calendar. More of a problem for PC than WT perhaps

You got the maths right! :win

If we get two more entrants, everyone will get two picks and thus be special (except for JSG, who is already special) - so go forth and find players, one and all! ;)

    Here we go ....

We have 14 people. JSG requires only one pick (yep he's THAT GOOD) so 6 of us will get 3 picks and the rest will get 2.

You get 24 hrs to get your pick in or I will get your pick and then there will be more Danes and Pretty Boys  #fairwarning  :P
Hopefully this will ZIP along like Roglic up Mount Fløyen or we're going to still be here when the champagne pops on New Year's Eve.

First up the lucky, lucky 6 people who get 3 picks are *drumroll please*

Search, Joelsim, Armchair, Flo, Carlo, and Lukas.

You have been chosen at random by Jarvis Cocker at the Bingo Hall the other night https://twitter.com/LaureJames/status/934703108181188608

Listed below are the 33 categories. We have 7500 CQ points to spend, which equates to somewhere around 230 points / pick on average. not that such budgetry restraints ever stopped anybody before  ;)

I stole JSG's csv list from last year and also his instructions. After you go if you could do the maths add the name of the rider how many points and how many we have left , copy the csv file below and fill in between the ,, and the total left to spend at the bottom.

And finally, the order generated by RANDOM
    # Name Order
    1 Midge

#11 Who? Someone you have never hard of before or more likely you might have head of but couldn't tell us about.

#13 The Continental Dominator The Conti team rider who's going to mop up a hat full of points

#26 The Close but no Cigar. A rider who kept coming very close to victory in 2017 but never got to stand on the podium top stop. Maybe someone from this list

#27 Sleeping with the Enemy. someone from a team you don't like #thehorror

**#29 had to shorten it -  Had One Good Season A Few Years Ago And Is Bound To Have Another One Soon"?

Madame Random has given Joelsim 'sleeping with the enemy' *crosses Elissonde off my list*. But she has awarded me Pretty Boy - JSG let me know if you wish to switch :P

    Right over to you Leadbelly

Does anybody want to pick "the drugs cheat"?
If you do, I'll happily swap that one for ... well, just about anything.

Also, clarifying question on the "Fall from Grace (WT->Conti)": Does he have to have fallen from grace this transfer season (i.e., WT in 2017, Conti in 2018), or is it enough if he had a WT contract once and has never raced higher than Conti ever since?

I suspect that some of you were really hoping for No 25, The Scandi; I certainly wasn't.

    Happy to swap that one.

When we swap, is it the category or the picker who changes order in the list?  So if Midge took me up on swapping the Scandi for her "Who?", would I do 2 picks in a row at 11 and 12, or would the 11th member of the team be Midge selecting a Scandanavian?

(not that I am asking for that as my swap...)

maybe in 2019 he said, as far as I can remember. He needs a break to recover from his injuries.

and well Lukas, this category is almost the same as the one you just gifted away. Plenty of good names. Rebellin, Mancebo, Schumacher... ;)

Tempting, very tempting... but Armchair has first refusal on Who.

Why anyone would wish to swap Scandi is beyond my understanding though, so many good ones to choose #happymidge

Just realised I got so excited about Scandinavian swaps I didn't answer the second part of the question. The categories are static, it's the picker who changes, so if we switched Who for Scandi, you would indeed pick a rider for #11 and #12 one after the other.
