(part 2 of post; velorooms was kicking me out when I tried to post the whole thing in one go)

Green Jersey Competition

Rank   Team   Total   Wk8
1   Jon_Ezeitza   90
2   Kryvo   80
3   18-Valve. (pithy)   74
4   ChrisDK   72
5   Geraint Too Fast   65

Not much action on this leaderboard this week, as GTF's weekly win gets their team into 5th overall, but no other points scored in the top 10 overall.

Top 10 Overall

Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
1   (-)   Nathanptz   2457
2   (-)   Popchu   2399
3   (+1)   Squire   2263
4   (+1)   Kryvo   2249
5   (+8)   abbulf   2245
6   (+6)   kabete   2212
7   (-1)   DJ Sprtsch   2203
8   (+3)   Valv.Piti   2201
9   (+9)   minessa   2195
10   (-3)   fauniera   2175

After almost relinquishing the lead last week, Nathanptz pulls back away a bit to ensure a third week at the top over Popchu. Squire continues an inexorable march up the standings to nab the final podium spot. Lots of changeover in the top 10 from week to week lately, and this week is similar, with abbulf, kabete, Valv.Piti and minessa jumping in, and JSpear, LosBrolin, Blues in the bottle and former leader bminchow (who has a very unfortunate week with only 3 points!) fall out.

    1. HC Ronde van Drenthe is on the table tomorrow... probably the race to score big time for every rider with only the slightest bit of a pedigree for one day races - and all I have to offer is #monkeytown Peter Schulting...

    anyway. Hup, Peter, hup :win

Update #9: Soler Power Fuels Top Teams

With Paris-Nice the only major points on offer this week, plus some stages of Tirenno-Adriatico, it had the potential for an interesting week. And the big points were picked up by pretty rare riders. Accordingly, there were some serious runs up the overall table by a number of teams.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   archieboy   650
    2   DJW   501
    3   Riverside   486
4   Blues in the bottle   484
    5   drebelo   474

archieboy absolutely crushes it this week, outscoring second place by almost 150 points! The 13 teams that had Marc Soler (327 points from Paris-Nice) were always going to have the advantage this week, but it was his breakaway companion on stage 8, unique pick David De La Cruz (130 points), that puts archieboy over the top. 61 points from Carapaz (8 teams) and 53 from Oomen (33 teams) help out as well. DJW turns in a more-than-respectable 2nd place, breaking 500 points almost entirely on the back of Soler, Oomen and almost unique pick (2 teams) Patrick Konrad with a breakthrough performance and 116 points. Riverside squeaks into third with Alaphilippe and Landa bolstering Soler's haul.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   archieboy   (+75)
    2   drebelo   (+46)
    3   Eyeballs Out   (+44)
    4   Eric10   (+42)
    5   scrooll07   (+40)

archieboy doubles up with the domination, and no matter how you slice it, a 75-spot leap in a single week is pretty incredible. Don't let this overshadow the other impressive leaps, such as 46 places for second-place drebelo (notable rider that hasn't been mentioned: Fraile, 4 teams, got 66 points) and 44 places for third-place Eyeballs Out.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   Jon_Ezeitza   90
    2   Kryvo   80
    3   archieboy   77
    4   18-Valve. (pithy)   74
    5   ChrisDK   72

No team can yet touch the early season double-weekly-win total of Jon Ezeitza, but archieboy enters the conversation at #3 overall with the 45 points this week adding to 2 for 14th last week, and 30 more for 3rd place in week 6. Other than that the top 5 doesn't score, and lower down Blues in the bottle moves to 6th and last year's winner scrooll07 into 10th.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
    1   (+15)   Blues in the bottle   2625
    2   (-1)   Nathanptz   2537
    3   (-1)   Popchu   2534
    4   (-1)   Squire   2464
    5   (-1)   Kryvo   2449
    6   (+1)   DJ Sprtsch   2417
    7   (+34)   CQmanager   2406
    8   (+12)   trackstand   2390
    9   (-1)   Valv.Piti   2386
    10   (+2)   TheArt   2371

Normally, the leaping about in the standings happens farther down, and the very top is a game of inches and incremental movements. But that gets thrown out the window this week as Blues in the bottle jumps fifteen places into the top spot! Their team is solid throughout, with 30 out of 33 riders having scored this year, and this week's haul from Soler puts them over the top. Everyone else in the top 5 gets displaced one spot by this huge move, and the only other entries into the top 10 are from other big movers, CQmanager in 7th from 41st, and trackstand to 8th from 20th. abbulf, kabete, and minessa say goodbye to the top 10 for now, falling out after last week.

Update #10: The Rich Get Richer - Top 4 of the Week are Top 4 Overall

**note: I'm still looking for people to take on the posting of the updates for June and July. If you are interested, please let me know either here or by PM, thanks!**

I saw that the update was out on Sunday so I've got a jump on it this week!

The first monument of the classics season is done! It is not having quite as much of an impact on the standings as last year's, when a very popular Kwiatkowski took the win. This year, a rider nobody had - Vincenzo Nibali, who is very good every year and thus likely wouldn't have a much higher ceiling than his score - took out a thrilling victory, but took those 280 points away from everyone in this game. There were also the points for the GC of Tirenno on offer, which also didn't affect the game too much, as winner Kwiatkowski was only on 2 teams this year, again because of his good showing last season. That meant a combo of placings in these races and the 3 1.HC races (none of which were above 1.1 3 years ago - what's up with the UCI upping the category for nearly every race?) would give the best chance of victory this week.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   TheArt   893
    2   ruvu75   822
    3   Squire   764
    4   Nathanptz   753
    5   Hugo Koblet   728

If the name at the top looks familiar, it's because it's the same one that was at the top of the leaderboard in Week 6. TheArt takes a second weekly win of the year, scoring a whopping 893 points this week! Last time it was rare pick Lutsenko in Oman that powered their team to victory as well as Geraint Thomas in Algarve. This time, Thomas' 162 points from Tirenno lead the way, but not far behind is the impressive neo-pro Fabio Jakobsen with 155 this week. Triple digit scores from Jurgen Roelandts and Davide Formolo help a lot, as do a pair of 84-point showings from Halvorsen and Capiot. ruvu75 is the only team to come remotely close, with all those riders but Capiot, and a healthy collection of 40+ points from supporting riders. Squire rounds out the podium with a nice week from many of those same riders.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Hugo Koblet   (+42)
    2   oliveira   (+35)
    2   Poles & Co.   (+35)
    4   Shawnm4747   (+33)
    5   laarsland   (+31)

Normally there is significant overlap between this list and the previous one, but... well, read the title of this post. Game founder Hugo Koblet, the highest scoring team that wasn't already in or almost in the top 10, takes a solid 42 point leap up the charts. Despite lamenting the loss of Gaviria, his team fills in admirably, as one of the only teams with both QuickStep neo-pros that scored big this week, Jakobsen and Hodeg... or so I thought before writing the next sentence. oliveira and Poles & Co. tie for 2nd with equal 35 point leaps, and they also each have both of those guys (plus oliveira has Sagan, and Poles & Co. has Ewan).

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   TheArt   90
    1   Jon_Ezeitza   90
    3   Nathanptz   80
    3   Kryvo   80
    5   archieboy   77

We have some real changes at the top! With a second weekly win, TheArt matches Jon Ezeitza's feat from earlier in the year, and therefore their teams are tied since neither has any top 15 placing points from other weeks. Nathanptz gets 26 points this week to leap into a tie for 3rd with Kryvo as well. Lower down, PeterB jumps into the top 10 but no other scorers in the very top of the board.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
    1   (+1)   Nathanptz   3290
    2   (+8)   TheArt   3264
    3   (+1)   Squire   3228
    4   (+11)   ruvu75   3158
    5   (-4)   Blues in the bottle   3099
    6   (-3)   Popchu   3021
    7   (+5)   LosBrolin   2931
    8   (+1)   Valv.Piti   2911
    9   (-4)   Kryvo   2890
    10   (-2)   trackstand   2885

A real jackpot for the top teams this week as already mentioned - Nathanptz gets 4th on the week but was already in 2nd place, and so their team regains the lead from last week's leader Blues in the bottle. Squire already was in 4th and gets 3rd on the week, but TheArt was in 10th last week and scored so many more points than anyone else that their team leapfrogs nearly everyone into 2nd overall. ruvu75 turns a good week into a top 10, and LosBrolin jumps in the top 10 as well, while CQmanager and DJ Sprtsch fall out.

I have three GC winners (with Valverde, Rosa and Raileanu) but I think that's it more or less. Apart from Viviani of course

edit: Viviani was last year :D

    Update: Koronin Cracks 1K!

    Whoa.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   Koronin   1112
    2   Eyeballs Out   947
    3   minessa   945
    4   LaFlorecita   944
    5   Shawnm4747   940

That's some Grand Tour GC points right there. The stars aligned this week with a few WT classics, a WT stage race, and a smattering of other things from the 2.HC Langkawi to the 2.1 Coppi e Bartali to the 1.1 races in France. Most of these races had some prominent riders in this game, and with another jawdropping 367 points this week, it was going to be a team with Valverde that led the charge. But hey, wanna know how to get over 1100 points in a single week like this? Piti is only the start, you've gotta get 3x that amount. Terpstra helps, a moderately popular pick that did the right thing in E3 and brought in over 200. Heck, Soler and his 143 this week also help, making him already over 100 points in profit at almost 600 total. Being one of the 12 teams to pick Stybar also would help with his 110. Then smatterings of 50 here from Ben O'Connor and 42 there from Max Schachmann there would also help. Guess what? Koronin had all of 'em, and cleaned the heck up. Great week for a game neophyte especially. Of course, the ridiculous totals of the rest of the top 5 are overshadowed by this, but Eyeballs Out squeaks out 2nd place with Valv/Soler/Latour/Rosa while minessa edges out LaFlo for 3rd with Valv/Latour/Rosa and a good supporting cast. Yikes! Do you think that means there were some big jumps this week?

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Koronin   (+54)
    2   vladimir   (+36)
    3   Manafana   (+32)
    4   minessa   (+29)
    5   JSpear   (+28)

Well, yep. Koronin vaults up the table 54 spots, as one is wont to do with an 1100 point week in March in this game (to put it in context, 3 times that would get you in the top 30 for the year). vladimir, who didn't appear on the Top Scorers list, makes a big move up 36 with no Valverde but thanks to the interesting team including Quintana, Stybar, Latour, and make-you-look-brilliant unique pick Christophe Laporte, plus no fewer than 3 riders scoring exactly 40 points this week. Manafana slides into third with another non-Valverde team, this time with Stybar, Latour, Terpstra and George Bennett. Even after watching all the week's racing, 'Zdenek Stybar' is not a name I'd think of as having several mentions in this update. Interesting!

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   Kryvo   98
    2   TheArt   90
    2   Jon_Ezeitza   90
    4   Nathanptz   80
    5   archieboy   77

New leader this week! Kryvo was tied for 3rd at 80 last week but got 18 points this week to leapfrog former co-leaders TheArt and Jon_Ezeitza. No other movement at the top this week.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team
    1   (+8)   Kryvo   3767
    2   (+14)   Eyeballs Out   3759
    3   (-1)   TheArt   3754
    4   (+2)   Popchu   3711
    5   (-4)   Nathanptz   3693
    6   (+7)   PeterB   3598
    7   (-3)   ruvu75   3595
    8   (+23)   LaFlorecita   3577
    9   (+54)   Koronin   3572
    10   (+25)   Shawnm4747   3564

And the Green Jersey competition isn't the only thing Kryvo takes the lead in this week. Look at that carnage! some enormous leaps going on in the top 10, and some pretty serious upheaval. The top is incredibly tight, with 13 points separating the top 3! 4th and 5th are around 50-60 points back of the podium. This is quite the race going on. Who knows what will happen while Valverde goes into two week hibernation until the Ardennes? This year is becoming one of the most changeable I can remember. As far as the top 10 goes, Kryvo was already in 9th place, but Eyeballs Out takes a big leap into the top 10, as does PeterB. And enormous leaps for LaFlo, of course Koronin (54 places! Into 9th!) and Shawnm4747. Condolences to Squire, trackstand, Blues in the bottle, Valv.Piti, and omg LosBrolin who each fall out of the top 10.

This is my last week doing updates for awhile! EvansIsTheBest takes over for April, while I go watch some of my CQ team live while biking around myself. Then I go out to work for May-July, and I'm still looking for people to do June and July updates! Please contact me if you are available/interested.

Evansisthebest is doing the updates but not registered here at the moment so here is a cut and paste from what he has put in the CN forum

    Quote
Update: Lightbing dominates De Ronde, dominates the week

Hi, I’ll be taking over for skidmark for the month of April. Sorry for the late update but CQ decide to wait until the end of the first stage of Pais Vasco to publish the update so I couldn’t get to it yesterday.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank Team Points this week
    1 LightBing 695
    2 jsem94 668
    3 scrooll07 656
    4 Koronin 632
    5 Roubaix 631

With the biggest race of the week being the Ronde Van Vlaanderen, LightBing took advantage of the Boonen-sized hole in the Quick Step lineup to ride former teammate Terpstra to victory. There was support from other riders (Benoot, Vanmarcke, Politt, Haussler) but with only Alaphilippe contributing outside of Flanders, there’s no question where the scoring came from. Jsem94 (Terpstra, Vanmarcke, Valgren) is barely edged out from the top spot and would have been even closer had Anthony Turgis not managed to score -5 points on the week (what’s up with that?). Scrooll07 is third which proves that getting the top 2 right in a monument can cover for a rather lackluster week from everybody else (nobody else on their team scored above 30 points). Koronin continue to bulldoze their way to the top of the rankings (more on that later) with Terpstra, Stybar and as always Valverde. As you would expect during this time of year, Roubaix rounds out the top 5 with Vanmarcke, Stybar and Terpstra leading the way.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank Team Up/down
    1 jsem94 (+34)
    2 tom_jelte (+34)
    3 Roubaix (+31)
    4 simple (+31)
    5 derrudi (+29)

Jsem94 gets the top spot this time but shares it with tom_jelte who used the two Quickstep guys and a fifth place from Eddie Dunbar in the Volta Limburg Classic to rise 34 places. Roubaix and simple (Terpstra and Vanmarcke) also rise more than 30 spots. Derrudi closes the top 5 with Terpstra (who else?) and Valgren.

    Green Jersey Competition

    1 Kryvo 98
    2 TheArt 90
    2 Jon_Ezeitza 90
    4 LightBing 87
    5 scrooll07 86

The podium remains unchanged but LightBing, scrooll07 and Koronin ride their great results to 4th, 5th and 6th respectively. With another week of cobbles classics, it might be their last opportunity to reach the top in a while.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank Up/down Team
    1 (+1) Eyeballs Out 4258
    2 (+7) Koronin 4204
    3 (-) TheArt 4203
    4 (+1) Nathanptz 4121
    5 (+5) Shawnm4747 4067
    6 (+13) GP Blanco 4026
    7 (-) ruvu75 4025
    8 (-2) PeterB 4023
    9 (+17) LightBing 4022
    10 (+4) trackstand 4003

Former leader Kryvo slips all the way to 13th but that’s hardly surprising in the middle of the cobbles season with a team headlined by Valverde, Izagirre, Lopez, Chaves, Latour, Gaudu and Kudus. Better days ahead to be sure. Eyeballs Out barely holds off Koronin with 53 of the 54-point margin coming from the first stage of Pais Vasco. TheArt stays in third while GP Blanco, LightBing and trackstand make their entry in the top 10. Meanwhile, Popchu (no Terpstra) and LaFlorecita (nobdy besides Terpstra) fall out.

    This Month's Top Scorers

    Rank Team Points this month
    1 Koronin 2466
    2 Eyeballs Out 2408
    3 Shawnm4747 2222
    4 scrooll07 2087
    5 TheArt 2035
    6 GP Blanco 2016
    7 PeterB 1973
    8 Manafana 1947
    9 LightBing 1931
    10 LaFlorecita 1924

With the first big month of the season done, it’s no surprise to see the monthly ranking is very similar to the overall ranking. Koronin and Eyeballs Out swap the top spot. Shawnm4747, TheArt, GP Blanco, PeterB and LightBing also feature on both top 10. Scrooll07 is third this week, fourth this month and twelfth overall. LaFlorecita is fourteenth overall and Manafana is the lowest of the monthly top 10 at a very respectable eighteenth overall still.

    This Month's High Movers

    Rank Team Up/down
    1 Koronin (+75)
    2 Eyeballs Out (+62)
    3 Shawnm4747 (+59)
    4 JPettersen (+55)
    5 armchairclimber (+53)
    6 scrooll07 (+49)
    7 archieboy (+47)
    7 Carlo_Algatrensig (+47)
    7 jsem94 (+47)
    10 oliveira (+45)

No surprise here, as Koronin jumps all the way from 77th to 2nd and Eyeballs jumps 62 spots into first place and Shawnm4747 id this month’s third highest mover. How about JPettersen though? Their team is the embodiment of consistently good but not great, being currently ranked 28th overall and having climbed 55 spots in march while not scoring a single point in the green jersey competition. Armchairclimber and archieboy relied on Marc Soler to feature high on the list while Carlo Algantrensig used a pair of Yates brothers (picked 6 times combined) to have the most unique feel of the teams in the top 10. Finally, oliveira rounds out the top 10 (having Sagan in march helps, I guess).

Posted from CN, where Evans is the Best is currently providing updates

Update: Forget Paris, it's all about Roubaix

The cobbles are done, the hilly classics are due next. Let's hope we collectively do a better job of finding the hero of the day for Amstel, Fleche and Liege than we did for Roubaix. Nobody saw that performance from Dillier coming.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank Team Points this week
    1   Roubaix   757
    2   Salvarani   716
    3   barmaher   694
    4   kiilike   693
    5   Valv.Piti   681

Roubaix is the best scorer for a week that ended in the Velodrome of Roubaix. You can't make this stuff up. A strong team effort (Mas, Terpstra, Jakobsen, Stybar, Vanmarcke, Phinney, Walscheid) is enough to push their team ahead of the pack. Salvarani lands 2nd place despite the fact that only five riders on their team scored and only one in Roubaix (Sagan, Landa, Mas, Betancur and Padun). Barhamer also did the bulk of their scoring outside of Roubaix (I. Izaguirre, Mas, Bilbao, Amador, Jakobsen). Like Salvarani, kiilike rides the Sagan/Landa/Mas trio to a high score. Valv.Piti emulates barhamer with I. Izaguirre, Mas and Jakobsen but a different smattering of lesser scorers (Phinney, Valverde, Brambilla).

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank Team Up/down
    1   barmaher   (+30)
    2   Salvarani   (+29)
    3   Roubaix   (+21)
    4   simple   (+20)
    4   Jancouver   (+20)

Barhamer, Salvarani and Roubaix use their big weeks to soar up the rankings. No surprise there. On the other hand, Sep Vanmarcke finishing as the fourth highest scorer for simple's team behind Niki Terpstra, Guillaume Martin and Emanuel Buchmann is pretty wild. To date, it's been a tough year for Jancouver's most expensive picks so I'm sure seeing Sagan dominate on Sunday was a big relief. Jakobsen helps their team sweep the week's cobbled classics. Phinney also did his part by hopefully getting his career back on track.

    Green Jersey Competition

    1   Roubaix   102
    2   Kryvo   98
    3   TheArt   90
    3   Jon_Ezeitza   90
    5   LightBing   87

Roubaix takes the lead as the icing on the cake for their great week but with the hilly classics and the Giro on the horizon, there could be a bunch of new teams vying for the top spot in that ranking very soon.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank Up/down Team
    1   (-)   Eyeballs Out   4838
    2   (+4)   GP Blanco   4686
    3   (+2)   Shawnm4747   4614
    4   (-2)   Koronin   4611
    5   (-2)   TheArt   4608
    6   (+1)   ruvu75   4588
    7   (+3)   trackstand   4563
    8   (-4)   Nathanptz   4507
    9   (-)   LightBing   4476
    10   (+2)   scrooll07   4425

12th on the week, Eyeballs Out stretch their lead out. With the bottom of the lineup (Riabushenko, Phinney, Betancur and Lambrecht) showing signs of life and Alaphilippe ready to pounce, that lead could continue to grow in the next week. GP Blanco (7th on the week) surges to second place and if Wallays hadn't cracked in the finale of Paris-Roubaix, they could have made things very interesting at the top. Lower in the order, scrooll07 (Terpstra, Mas, Phinney) sneaks into the top 10 while PeterB (Terpstra, Wallays, Debusschere) makes way.

The light(bing) at the end of the tunnel

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   LightBing   449
    2   search   378
    3   Yellow Knight   345
    4   Wallenquist   332
    5   Gigs_98   329

With only a few one day races and the GP de Beiras beside the main event of the week (Tro Bro Leon obviously), this week was never going to reach the heights of the previous updates. Unless of course you just happen to own all of Kreuziger, Benoot, Alaphilippe, Silva, Brandao and Craddock like LightBing. A 71 pts difference with the second place search, who scored 378 pts (Valverde, Alaphilippe, Gasparotto and Brandao) for the entire week as a point of reference, is impressive to say the least. Yellow Knight relies on the specialist of Amstel Gold Race (Gasparotto) and an impressive ride by Craddock to complement his top priced riders Sagan and Alaphilippe for third on the week. Wallenquist and Gigs_98 both use the Alaphilippe-Kreuziger duo to get a top 5 finish meaning that none of the teams that selected Valgren made the cut.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   search   (+23)
    2   Yellow Knight   (+16)
    3   adamski101   (+14)
    4   del1962   (+12)
    4   yoyokt   (+12)
    4   torcia_86   (+12)

LightBing is too high in the overall to feature here (more on that later) leaving the top spots to search (+23) and Yellow Knight (+16). Adamski101 is the first Valgren team to make an appearance in the update and jumps 14 spots. Del1962 (Sagan, Gasparotto), yoyokt (Valverde, Gasparotto, Craddock) and torcia_86 (Valgren, Alaphilippe) are tied for fourth (+12).

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   LightBing   132
    2   Kryvo   108
    3   Roubaix   102
    4   TheArt   90
    4   Jon_Ezeitza   90

LightBing takes control here with their second update win in three weeks while Kryvo had another good week to overtake Roubaix. TheArt and Jon_Ezeitza are the only other teams less than a weekly win away from the top spot so there is some real separation for the first time this year.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team
    1   (-)   Eyeballs Out   5038
    2   (+7)   LightBing   4925
    3   (+3)   ruvu75   4883
    4   (+1)   TheArt   4855
    5   (+2)   trackstand   4832
    6   (-4)   GP Blanco   4826
    7   (-3)   Koronin   4807
    8   (-5)   Shawnm4747   4727
    9   (+2)   Giallo   4722
    10   (-)   scrooll07   4693

Eyeballs Out holds off LightBing (2nd, +7) for the top spot thanks to the efforts of Gasparotto and Alaphilippe. Ruvu75 climbs on the podium with the efforts of the usual suspects (Alaphilippe, Gasparotto and Craddock) but also rare pick Madouas. Giallo (+2, 9th) enters the top 10 with their extreme top heavy approach bearing fruits in the classics (Valverde, Sagan AND Alaphilippe). Nathanptz (15th, -7) makes way as the lack of top level punchers on their team starts to show.

    Update: Lightbing does strike twice

With the Ardennes classics done, it's about to be Grand Tour season which brings its own kind of excitement. For the purpose of this game, it also means that a new set of riders will dominate the coming months giving the opportunity to a lot of teams to get back into the hunt for first place (and right now that means chasing down the hottest team in the field: LightBing).

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank Team Points this week
    1   Wallenquist   1117
    2   fauniera   1113
    3   Maaaaaaaarten   1101
    4   bminchow   1041
    5   Gigs_98   1038

Five teams clear the 1k mark in a non GT week which is crazy enough but imagine scoring 1113 points and coming in second because Albanese got 5 points for finishing 49th in the GC in Croatia (finishing 51th would have netted him 0 points). Not sure many will sympathize with fauniera's situation though as he got plenty of great performances out of their squad this week (Alaphilippe, Ciccone, Lopez, Formolo, Brambilla, Padun and Valverde). The top spot belongs to Wallenquist who relied on a bunch top-notch results in Liege (Alaphilippe, Kreuziger, Gasparotto, Formolo, Lopez) and stellar performances from Miguel Angel Lopez and Ruben Plaza on top of a smattering of smaller placings including the aforementioned heroic performance by Albanese. Maaaaaaaarten got nice scoring from rare picks George Bennett and Giulio Ciccone, bminchow got value out of Ben O'Connor and Roman Kreuziger and Gigs_98 combined Kreuziger and Ciccone with unique pick Serry to round out the top 5 (and in case you were wondering, yes they all Alaphilippe on their team).

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank Team Up/down
    1   bminchow   (+39)
    2   fauniera   (+32)
    3   Maaaaaaaarten   (+28)
    4   Wallenquist   (+21)
    4   Jakob747   (+21)
    4   HelgeBlendet   (+21)
    4   ansimi   (+21)

The only one from the top 5 scorers that doesn't crack this list too is Gigs_98 and that's because he was too high to begin with. Jakob747 ranking soared at the same time as Michael Woods dropped the favorites in Liège-Bastogne-Liège (with a nice assist by Aru). HelgeBlendet hit on all cylinders to compensate for a lack of Alaphilippe (Kreuziger, Ciccone, Padun, Formolo, Bennett, Brambilla). Ansimi's three most expensive picks (Alaphilippe, Woods, Lopez) had pretty good weeks to power their team up 21 spots.

    Green Jersey Competition

    1   LightBing   150
    2   Kryvo   108
    3   Roubaix   102
    4   fauniera   95
    5   TheArt   94

LightBing score an extra 18 points for their 7th place on the week stretching out their lead while fauniera make an appearance in the top 5 on the back of their strong week.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank Up/down Team
    1   (+1)   LightBing   5865
    2   (+1)   ruvu75   5735
    3   (-2)   Eyeballs Out   5703
    4   (-)   TheArt   5696
    5   (-)   trackstand   5628
    6   (-)   GP Blanco   5592
    7   (+12)   Gigs_98   5446
    8   (+3)   escartin   5421
    9   (+7)   MADRAZO   5344
    10   (-3)   Koronin   5335

Guess who? It's LightBing in the lead after yet another stellar week. Alaphilippe, Kreuziger, Lopez, Formolo, and Brambilla provide the bulk of the scoring while Gesink, Benoot, and Bonifazio are rare picks that got a decent number of points. Meanwhile, Eyeballs Out slide down to 3rd as Alaphilippe, Lopez, and Gasparotto aren't enough to keep up with LightBing. Gigs_98, 5th on the week is now up to 7th in the overall (+12 spots). Escartin (Alaphilippe, Lopez, Gasparotto, Brambilla, Oomen) and MADRAZO (Alaphilippe, Loez, Woods, Brambilla, and Formolo) also join the top 10. Giallo and scrooll07 do a good job of cushioning their fall out of the top 10 (-3 and -4 spots respectively) but Shawnm4747 slides all the way down to 22nd as no Alaphilippe on the team and no race day from their most expensive pick Sagan prove to be a bad combo (121st on the week).

    Update: hyserical score for Eric10

With the Giro going along and some smaller stage races the scores have been significantly higher than they were past week (which isn't very difficult). Having led the Green Jersey competitiona and the overall for a while now, LightBing still has everything firmly under control.

    This Week's Top Scorers
    1 Eric10 457
    2 zlev11 451
    3 AlyKapan 439
    4 AupaPyama 416
    5 Londonpat 400

Eric10 has the golden Mitchelton duo dominating the Giro, with Chaves and Yates. However, unlike in the Giro, Chaves and Yates can be in several teams in our game and while Eric10 takes the lead, zlev11 and AlyKapan who are sporting the same duo aren't far behind. AupaPyama does not have Yates, but he has Timothy Dupont, who scored 97 points in Dunkerque. Londonpat, also missing Yates, has Gougeard to place him in this week's top 5.

    This Week's High Movers
    1 AupaPyama (+12)
    1 zlev11 (+12)
    3 the asian (+10)
    3 Geraint Too Fast (+10)
    5 Eric10 (+8)

Not a huge amount of movement this week. AupaPyama and zlev11 share the top spot, and Eric10, being the highest scorer of the week, unsurprisingly also makes the top 5. the asian keeps up his good run and Geraint Too Fast having Javier Moreno, Taaramäe and unique pick Evrard with 29 points completes the top 5.

    Green Jersey
    1 LightBing 150
    2 Eric10 117
    2 Squire 117
    4 Kryvo 112
    5 Wallenquist 111

LightBing still green as a frog. Behind him things are very close with Eric10 and Squire sharing the 2nd place and five points behind them Kryvo and Wallenquist are only one point apart. While LightBing has been giving the green Light for a while, nobody seems to be putting their foot on the gas quite yet.

    Top 10 Overall
    1 LightBing 6375
    2 Eyeballs Out 6244
    3 ruvu75 6217
    4 trackstand 6163
    5 TheArt 6076
    6 Wallenquist 6059
    7 scrooll07 6037
    8 GP Blanco 5985
    9 Squire 5966
    10 Kryvo 5933

Here LightBing has been shining his light over the competition as well. Squire has entered the top 10, while Gigs has just barely dropped out of it. Meanwhile ruvu75 has swapped places with trackstand for the podium. As far as the current top 10 and the looming Giro GC points are concerned; Chaves, Lopez and Formolo are extremely common, with only scrooll07 missing Superman and only Eyeballs Out missing Formolo. However scrooll07 has Carapaz, which might to some extent make up for missing Superman. Squire might be looking best not missing any of the common picks likely to score significant GC points, while also having rare pick Woods. Finally, the fabled Phoenix rising from the fat might end up helping Eyeballs Out, Wallenquist, GP Blanco and Squire who have all picked Betancur. If I were LightBing and co I'd get on a plane to Italy ASAP and offer Carlos some of the Bandeja Paisa he's been missing in Europe.

Sorry guys, just for no apparent reason completely forgot I had to the update yesterday   :o

Update: Eric10 at it again and noBing lasts forever (not even LightBing)
This week saw a fair number of points, with the Giro going on, with California coming in and also some smaller races like Tour de l'Ain. This weeks are also, as can be expected, significantly higher than last two weeks. This week is rather eventful with Eric10 winning another update and the reign of Lightbing finally being overthrown.

    This week's top scorers:
    1.Eric10 755
    2.Guybrush 609
    3.AlyKaptan 604
    4.Guilherme Ribero 571
    5.ChrisDK 520

Eric10 winning back to back updates. With Gaviria, Van Poppel, De Plus, Mcnulty - and oh did I mention Simon Yates? - all being not super common and earning significant points, he is the clear victor of the week. Guybrush's South American oriented approach also reaps a high score, with Gaviria, Bernal and Martinez being his most important point scorers. AlyKaptan relies mostly on Yates power, having both brothers in his team. Guilherme Ribero also sports Bernal and has rare picks Ravasi and Nuno Miguel Alves Matos Bicos as rare picks scoring some significant points. ChrisDK earns his 5th place mostly with Bernal, Ewan and De Plus.

    This Week's High Movers
    1 Eric10 (+35)
    2 zlev11 (+15)
    3 archieboy (+13)
    4 AlyKaptan (+12)
    4 Guybrush (+12)
    6 torcia_86 (+10)

Eric10 unsurprisingly winning this competition as well. Besides the players already mentioned in the above section about this weeks highest scorers, we find zlev11, archieboy and torcia_86. Zlev11 is relying again on Yates. Archieboy has no huge scorers, but with Martinez, Mohoric, McNulty and Durasek earning rare points he still moves up 13 places. Torcia_86 has Martinez as well and also Van Poppel.

    Green Jersey Competition
    1 Eric10 162
    2 LightBing 150
    3 ChrisDK 120
    4 Squire 117
    5 Kryvo 112

For the first time since I started doing updates we see a change at the top! Eric10's charge, winning back-to-back updates sees him overtake LightBing. Meanwhile ChrisDK entered the top 5 forcing Wallenquist down to 6th.

    Top 10 Overall
    1 Eyeballs Out 6573
    2 LightBing 6511
    3 ruvu75 6483
    4 trackstand 6429
    5 Wallenquist 6407
    6 TheArt 6324
    7 Squire 6304
    8 Kryvo 6284
    9 GP Blanco 6259
    10 MADRAZO 6192

Not only has LightBing been chucked out of the hot seat in the green jersey competition, he's also overtaken by Eyeballs_Out in the overall. What a terrible week for LightBing! Has any man faced such travail since the dawn of the cq game?! Besides this shock, there are some minor movements. MADRAZO enters the top 10, while scrooll07 leaves it.

But what does it all mean, with the Giro and its abundantly pointed GC casting its ominous glare forward in our direction? Tune in next week to find out!

    update: ruvu75 more like ruvu1

Huge points coming in with the Giro GC points with many people scoring 1000+ points this update, so let's dive right in:

    this week's top scorers
    1 HelgeBlendet 1778
    2 zlev11 1421
    3 shalgo 1375
    4 torcia_86 1372
    5 kabete 1208

HelgeBlendet wins the week with a whopping 1778 points! Lopez, Oomen, Bennett, Carapaz, Gesink, Ciccone, Coquard, Lambrecht, Formolo and Brambilla all score more than 80 points and many of them quite a bit more than that. In second place we have zlev11 who's busy with a very good week; he earns his points Yates, Lopez, Oomen, Formolo with 100+ points and various riders not much below 100. Shalgo and Torcia both have some of the more common high earning picks and also Carapaz. Kabete doesn't have Carapaz, but he has some rare points with Schachmann and Dion Smith, while also having a ton of smaller earners which add up to some significant points. (Honorable mention to the 6th placed player of the week, with Oomen, Bennett and Ciccone as some of his rarer picks who did well this week.)

    This Week's High Movers
    1 HelgeBlendet (+46)
    2 zlev11 (+34)
    3 shalgo (+31)
    4 laarsland (+21)
    5 derrudi (+20)

With the monstrous score HelgeBlendet is also the highest mover by some distance. Zlev and Shalgo up there as well as is to be expected. Laarsland is fourth, but overall, having picked Aru, I imagine he can't be too happy with this Giro. He has a rare pick in Schachmann who has done very well though. Derrudi has some fairly rare points as well with Oomen, Andersen and Gesink.

    Green Jersey
    1 Eric10 162
    2 LightBing 150
    3 Squire 127
    4 ChrisDK 120
    5 Kryvo 112

Not too much change here. Squire is the only on in the top 5 who earns some points which is enough for him to pass ChrisDK.

    Overall Ranking
    1 ruvu75 7566
    2 Eyeballs Out 7506
    3 Squire 7445
    4 TheArt 7413
    5 LightBing 7388
    6 Wallenquist 7387
    7 GP Blanco 7348
    8 trackstand 7315
    9 MADRAZO 7176
    10 scrooll07 7151

Now that LightBing's reign has come to an end, it looks like we are now in a less stable period, with the lead changing again. Ruvu75 edges out Eyeballs Out by 80 points to take the lead. Behind them Squire, who's had another good week, joins them on the podium. LightBing keeps dropping and tracksand lost four places. Further below scrooll07 gets back into the top 10, while Kryvo drops out.

I thought I'd missed an update for this game so just went across to see if it had been done on CN to see that Squire had done it today and has asked for it to be reposted here. Well done to our collective team we made it into the top 5 for the week so surely worth a big cheer for us all here.

    Update #21: Hipster week

Sorry for the delay, there was some confusion about who was gonna do this update.

A pretty quiet CQ game week, but we probably needed that for our post-Giro hangover. There were actually a great number of points on offer: One 2.HC stage race, three 2.1 stage races, three 1.1 races, one 2.NC and a bunch of 2.2s and 1.2s. The problem was that almost nobody had the big scorers in Luxembourg, Korea etc.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank Team Points this week
    1 archieboy 368
    2 armchairclimber 305
    3 Jon_Ezeitza 273
    4 VeloRooms 264
    5 zlev11 257

Hence, it was the week of the hipster teams. zlev's popularity ranking of 104th out of 133 teams makes theirs the most 'popular' team in the top 5. archieboy takes the week, and underscoring the hipster nature of this week, the majority of his 368 points were scored by riders picked less than 10 times. Oomen's 7 points and Pidcock's 28 points being the exception. Boucles de la Mayenne winner Mathieu Van der Poel (152 points) did most of the scoring, with Anthony Perez (75 points from Luxembourg) and Max Kanter (61 points from Mayenne) chipping in with decent amounts.

For armchairclimber in 2nd place, it's quite fitting that Romain Seigle, 2nd behind Van der Poel in Mayenne, is the top scorer with 85 points. The egalitarian team of Jon_Ezeitza in 3rd also rides the fortunes of Van der Poel, supplemented by Sbaragli's 48 points from GP Lugano and other minor scorers.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank Team Up/down
    1 archieboy (+13)
    2 armchairclimber (+11)
    3 zlev11 (+7)
    4 Poles & Co. (+6)
    5 Yellow Knight (+5)

A double-double for the teams of lower-case a's this week. archieboy's leap moves him into the top 50. The 3rd highest mover, zlev11, brings some exotic Korean points with the almost-unique pick of Mihkel Räim.

    This Month's Top Scorers

    Rank Team Points this Month
    1 HelgeBlendet 2637
    2 zlev11 2624
    3 Eric10 2516
    4 torcia_86 2301
    5 Squire 2192

The month of May is behind us, and it's no surprise that Giro dominator HelgeBlendet is the monthly top dog. Another Giro high-roller, zlev11, who also had another good week now, takes a close 2nd place. Coincidentally (or maybe not), zlev11 was top-scorer for the month of May last year. They seem good at hitting peak shape for the end of the Giro. Is it Kruijswijk in disguise?

    This Month's High Movers

    Rank Team Up/down
    1 zlev11 (+68)
    2 HelgeBlendet (+55)
    3 Eric10 (+53)
    4 archieboy (+41)
    5 torcia_86 (+33)

Many of the same names here. 68 places is quite a massive leap for zlev11. torcia_86 is the one who has made the most noise towards the top of the standings, with a very good month bringing them up to 14th overall.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank Team Total
    1 Eric10 162
    2 LightBing 150
    3 archieboy 134
    4 Squire 127
    5 Jon_Ezeitza 120

archieboy continues to reap rewards from his good week, and moves to 3rd in the green jersey competition. Jon_Ezeitza is in the points for the first time since January ( ), and that is good enough to jump back into the top 5.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank Up/down Team Points
    1 (-) ruvu75 7705
    2 (-) Eyeballs Out 7660
    3 (-) Squire 7586
    4 (-) TheArt 7524
    5 (+2) GP Blanco 7514
    6 (-) Wallenquist 7509
    7 (+1) trackstand 7441
    8 (-3) LightBing 7437
    9 (-) MADRAZO 7330
    10 (-) scrooll07 7261

Very little change here, which is to be expected with few and rare points being scored this week. LightBing has a bit of a disastrous week, and GP Blanco is the one to profit the most. In other news, four more teams are now in profit, joining ruvu75 and Eyeballs Out.

We get a mention due to 152 points for Van der Poel (chosen by Flo) and 80 for Liepins (one of Archie's picks), but they are still in the 40s and 50s in terms of percentage returns.  Our only really successful picks so far (200% +) are Jakobsen, Reguigui and Plaza ( courtesy of Flo, Lukas and DJW respectively).  The good week does not manage to lift the collective above 123rd out of 129.

Update #22: Dauphiné one-two for Carlo

The WT is back rolling, and with the Dauphiné comes the major CQ points again. Race winner Geraint Thomas (picked 24 times) was on all the top 13 teams this week, which was a pretty high-scoring one. However, there is one clear winner.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank Team Points this week
    1 Carlo_Algatrensig 806
    2 Squire 709
    3 greenedge 683
    4 bort 672
    5 Gotland 669

Carlo_Algatrensig didn't just have Thomas, he made sure to profit maximally from the Dauphiné by also having 2nd placed Adam Yates. Add in some De Bie and Barguil points, and you have a weekly win. Team Squire takes 2nd with the required Thomas plus Latour, Alaphilippe and De Bie. The same riders are found on greenedge's team which rounds out the podium, but Team Squire edges it by also having Jones and some more minor scorers chipping in.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank Team Up/down
    1 l'velo (+25)
    2 greenedge (+23)
    3 Bicycle_Boy (+21)
    4 bort (+20)
    5 Carlo_Algatrensig (+19)

A bike-themed podium is split by weekly podium finisher greenedge. Again, Geraint Thomas is the common denominator. bort gets the most bang for his buck out of this lot by moving into the top 30.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank Team Total
    1 Squire 162
    1 Eric10 162
    3 LightBing 150
    4 archieboy 144
    5 Jon_Ezeitza 120

The success continues for Team Squire, whose 2nd on the week is enough to move into a split green jersey with Eric10. archieboy gets 10 more points this week, and weekly winner Carlo_Algatrensig moves up to 7th in this competition, just outside this leaderboard.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank Up/down Team Points

    2 (-1) ruvu75 8287

    5 (+1) Wallenquist 7815

    7 (-2) GP Blanco 7705
    8 (-1) trackstand 7696
    9 (-1) LightBing 7659
    10 (-1) MADRAZO 7501

Now, this is slightly embarassing. First time ever that I'm leading the CQ game, and I'm the one doing the update. ruvu75 drops down to 2nd despite being 8th on the week, and impressive newcomer TheArt moves onto the podium at the expense of Eyeballs Out. Gigs_98 leapfrogs a whole bunch of teams to enter the top 10 in 6th while scrooll07 is bumped out. The entire top 10 is now in profit.

    Update #23: Previous leader rejuvunated
    (Very subtle pun this week)

Teams with Richie Porte usually have good Junes, and this year is no exception. Tour de Suisse was the arena for the big points this week, with a few x.1 races in France, Slovenia and Belgium added in.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank Team Points this week
    1 Amis_Velo 831
    2 zaka_fan 806
    3 bminchow 738
    4 Leadbelly 700
    5 search 667

With Porte, Quintana and Mas going 1st, 3rd & 4th in the Tour de Suisse, Amis_Velo takes the win this week. Weekly runner-up zaka_fan actually had a Suisse 1-2 with Porte and Fuglsang, but with no Mas it was no más for zaka_fan. bminchow in 3rd has a slightly more 'conventional' team, with Oomen and Mas adding to the Porte points.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank Team Up/down
    1 search (+17)
    2 bminchow (+16)
    3 Nicosix (+14)
    3 zaka_fan (+14)
    5 Valv.Piti (+12)
    5 skidmark (+12)
    5 JSpear (+12)
    5 Leadbelly (+12)

The ladder is crowded this week. search makes the biggest jump with race winners Porte and Valverde carrying them up 17 placings. bminchow makes it a double weekly podium, while Nicosix and zaka_fan shares 3rd place with a jump of 14 places.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank Team Total
    1 Squire 162
    1 Eric10 162
    3 LightBing 150
    4 archieboy 144
    5 search 120
    5 ChrisDK 120
    5 Jon_Ezeitza 120

The good week for search helps them join the party in 5th place in the green jersey competition. Otherwise, no changes in the upper echelons. The lead is still shared between Squire and Eric10. 11 teams are still to score a point in this competition. One of them, Martin, was damned close this week, just 5 points off the weekly 15th place.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank Up/down Team Points
    1 (+1) ruvu75 8833
    2 (-1) Squire 8705
    3 (-) TheArt 8445
    4 (-) Eyeballs Out 8415
    5 (-) Wallenquist 8183
    6 (-) Gigs_98 8086
    7 (-) GP Blanco 8037
    8 (-) trackstand 7936
    9 (+1) MADRAZO 7933
    10 (+4) scrooll07 7932

I'm spared further blushes as previous leader ruvu75 reclaims their lead after just one week. A very good weekly haul; 12th place with big points from Mas, Oomen and Kragh Andersen is more than enough for ruvu to overtake Team Squire by quite a considerable margin. Elsewhere, scrooll07 enters the top 10 at the expense of former leader LightBing who drops 5 places after a disappointing 124th on the week.

Update #26: triley36 wins quiet week

*note: I see the last few updates haven't made their way here. I'll be doing the rest of the season and I'll make sure to post them here every week.*

Hey all, I'm back at the helm of the updates, and will look to have them back to being more timely (Monday or Tuesday) moving forward. This week's update is typically quiet, as the biggest race of the year is underway (meaning not many overlapping races with big points), but only with two stages counting for points in this update. Let's see how it went...

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   triley36   270
    2   Leadbelly   258
    3   Guybrush   256
    4   oliveira   206
    5   comodoro   185

Newcomer triley36 takes the week! Two riders in particular helped them achieve the 270 points that won this week, namely Sagan with 150 and Gaviria with 100 (the other 20 points were from Patrick Bevin). Sagan and Gaviria are only on 14 and 16 teams respectively, so that particular combo gives quite the haul, and it will likely do so again this week. Second place Leadbelly comes at it from a totally different place, with 142 points from Ivan Sosa (whose 9 owners must be throwing parties over his 421 points so far this season at a cost of 72), and smatterings from a bunch of riders including Valverde, Porte, Ben Hermans and Amaro Atunes. Guybrush completes the podium on the back of points from Gaviria and Sosa.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Jancouver   (+10)
    2   Leadbelly   (+8)
    3   Hakkie2   (+6)
    3   Geraint Too Fast   (+6)
    3   Jakob747   (+6)
    3   Hugo Koblet   (+6)
    3   oliveira   (+6)
    3   Valv.Piti   (+6)
    3   the asian   (+6)

With the relatively low points on offer this week, there weren't too many high jumps, but Jancouver managed to be the only player to jump double digits. thanks almost entirely to Sagan. Leadbelly is sadly a bridesmaid in this ranking as well, while 7 teams create a logjam tie for the last podium spot this week.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   Squire   178
    2   Eric10   162
    3   LightBing   150
    4   Kryvo   147
    5   greenedge   145

Not much change in the top 5, although notably greenedge continues an incredible hot streak to nab 13 points and move into 5th overall after winning the last two weeks (and finishing third two weeks before the first victory). Weekly winner triley36 scored their first points of this competition with the 45 for winning, so congrats for getting on the board so decisively! This means 121 of the 129 teams have scored at least a point in this competition.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team
    1   (-)   Squire   9410
    2   (-)   ruvu75   9354
    3   (-)   TheArt   9073
    4   (-)   Eyeballs Out   9011
    5   (-)   Wallenquist   8712
    6   (-)   trackstand   8615
    7   (-)   Total Package   8595
    8   (-)   GP Blanco   8582
    9   (-)   Gigs_98   8565
    10   (-)   MADRAZO   8467

With the vast majority of teams not really scoring huge points, that translates to no movement whatsoever in the top 10. I'm sure the glut of Tour points will change that soon enough, but for now, it's status quo.

That must be about the third mention in four or five weeks! Living the dream!

I think we can also safely say that unless Rivera goes out and wins China I, II (and III) that Sosa was the shrewder pick from Androni.

Update #27: Giallo has a big week as TdF churns along

The Tour is the biggest event of the year, causing many other events to be scheduled around it rather than opposing it, yet it only gives out about 10% more points than the other Grand Tours. This tends to mean the vast majority of players in this game are left waiting for the GC points to come in, crossing their fingers for three long weeks that their well-placed guy won't have it all go up in smoke in a second with a crash. But there are always a few teams that have high stage scorers, and can cobble together some points from the smaller races taking place.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   Giallo   442
    2   triley36   367
    3   Bicycle_Boy   314
    4   oliveira   284
    5   Yellow Knight   280

A top 10 finisher last week, Giallo really pours on the points this week, winning by 75 points with 442 total. A huge chunk of that came from Sagan, who had 233 himself, but contributions from Valverde and Alaphilippe helped, as did points from smaller races: Javier Moreno got 45 from Austria, unique pick Jose Fernandes got 30 from a 2.2 race in Portugal, and Youcef Reguigui got 30 from an interestingly placed national championships. Last week's winner triley36 had won on the back of the Sagan-Gaviria combo, and this was certainly again the case (Cav with 4 points was their only other scorer), and Bicycle_Boy slides into third with points from Sagan, Alaphilippe and Giovanni Carboni.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Giallo   (+18)
    2   Brullnux   (+11)
    2   Shawnm4747   (+11)
    4   Bicycle_Boy   (+10)
    5   AupaPyama   (+8)

Giallo doubles up, with a bit more upwards movement than last week's somewhat lower-scoring field. Brullnux and Shawnm4747 tie for second thanks to, no mystery, Peter Sagan.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   Squire   178
    2   Eric10   162
    3   LightBing   150
    4   Kryvo   147
    5   greenedge   145

Status quo at the top as there's no change in the top 5; lower down, ChrisDK moves up to 7th after scoring 9 points on the week, and weekly points leader Giallo slides into 9th overall after a second good week in a row. If Sagan can keep it up (not as likely in this mountainous week), there's a chance the 14 teams with him can continue to score here.

    Rank   Up/down   Team       Profit

    9   (-)   Gigs_98   8611   1112
    10   (+1)   Kryvo   8559   1066

A bit of movement this week, with Total Package and trackstand switching places, as well as Kryvo sliding in while displacing MADRAZO. Wallenquist and Total Package had the best points weeks of the top 10, scoring 224 and 188 while no one else scored more than 117. So even if there isn't much movement, some gaps are closing, although Squire's lead goes out by 52 points over 2nd place.

Next week, it's Tour Tour Tour, plus one stage of Qinghai Lake on Sunday. Although as I said above, it's the mountains in the Tour for the most part, so the team makeup to be successful might be a bit different than the last two weeks.

Update #28: Boy! What a week for the top contenders in the game

After a few relatively slow weeks for the field at large (apart from those with Sagan and Gaviria), there was a bit of an uptick at the Tour in terms of the top of the leaderboard in the CQ game - many of the top teams have already tasted some success from picking riders such as Alaphilippe and Thomas, and this was their week to go at the Tour, with stage placing and yellow jersey points. As always, one needs that and a bit more to take the honors for the week, and this week's winner certainly had the stars align.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   Bicycle_Boy   605
    2   AupaPyama   477
    3   Squire   464
    4   LosBrolin   394
    4   Pantani1   394

A resounding win this week from Bicycle Boy, who had 4 riders score over 100 points for the week (and then single digit points from a couple of others), most notably the aforementioned Thomas (261 points) and Alaphilippe (130). Throw in Sagan and Ion Izagirre and that'll get you 600 points in a non-GC week! Nice work. AupaPyama  slides into second with a none-too-shabby 477 points -without Geraint Thomas! - on the strength of Alaphilippe, Izagirre, and stage winners Fraile and Cort (with lesser points from Taaramae and Brenton Jones). And don't look now, folks with hopes of winning this year, but Squire, who was already leading the overall and Green Jersey coming into this week, rounds out the weekly top 3. Spoiler alert - he's still leading both of those competitions after this week.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Bicycle_Boy   (+17)
    2   AupaPyama   (+13)
    3   DJ Sprtsch   (+12)
    3   PremierAndrew   (+12)
    5   Pantani1   (+11)

This is one that Squire isn't going to win, as there is nowhere to move up from top spot, and unsurprisingly Bicycle_Boy takes this as well as the Top Scorers title (their team is, however, in the upper echelons of the overall so a 17 place jump is pretty impressive in that context). AupaPyama repeats in second, and DJ Sprtsch & PremierAndrew tie for 3rd, each jumping a dozen places.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   Squire   208
    2   Eric10   162
    3   greenedge   157
    4   LightBing   150
    5   Kryvo   147

The rich got a bit richer in this competition, with Squire moving 30 points more clear in the lead, and greenedge picking up 12 points to move up to the podium. A little further down off the displayed chart, weekly winner Bicycle Boy moved into the top 10 after a 3rd scoring week in a row.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
    1   (-)   Squire   9975
    2   (-)   ruvu75   9796
    3   (-)   TheArt   9543
    4   (-)   Eyeballs Out   9275
    5   (-)   Wallenquist   9103
    6   (+3)   Gigs_98   9003
    7   (-)   trackstand   8896
    8   (-2)   Total Package   8820
    9   (-1)   GP Blanco   8758
    10   (+1)   MADRAZO   8747

As mentioned earlier, Squire extends the lead, given that their team was the top point-scorer of the overall contenders. But, second and third placed ruvu75 and TheArt also were in the top 10 of the week, and so they consolidate their positions relative to the other overall leaders. Not a ton of movement in the top 10, although MADRAZO return, swapping places at the expense of Kryvo, who falls to #11.

Update #29: Pantani Does the Double - Tour GC shakes up standings, but things remain consolidated at the top

July has been a bit of a slow burn for the CQ game, as stage wins and yellow jersey points were about all that were on offer. But the last week of July always brings massive points, and with some fairly frequently picked riders taking top points (Geraint Thomas, on 24 teams, had 848 points this week alone), it was bound to have a big impact on this game. Let's see how the standings are shaken up.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   Pantani1   1806
    2   PeterB   1746
    3   Object   1680
    4   Bicycle_Boy   1625
    5   greenedge   1594

While Froome and Dumoulin had some of the most impressive Giro-Tour attempts in the last 20 years, the namesake of the last rider to achieve the double wins this GC week of the Tour. Of course, the anchor of any winning lineup this week was going to be Thomas, but Pantani1 also had help from Quintana and Alaphilippe (both over 200 points), and the underachieving-but-still-138-points-this-week showing from Warren Barguil. Throw in some other race points from Nizzolo and Kennaugh and you've got a winning formula. PeterB runs an impressive second with Thomas and a few rare picks - Kruijswijk (6 teams, 303 points) and Fuglsang (3 teams, 130 points). Object, with 1680 points, takes third.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Pantani1   (+44)
    2   zaka_fan   (+38)
    3   Carlo_Algatrensig   (+35)
    4   l'velo   (+32)
    5   Josedin   (+30)

This should give an indication of how much things are shaken up by such huge points in a week - Pantani1 does the double here, and moves up 44 places in a single week, 2/3 of the way through the cycling season. Wow! The rest of the top 5 all moved up more than 30 spots as well, with zaka_fan emulating their namesake's last week of the Tour by jumping up the standings, and Carlo_Algatrensig rounding out the podium for the week.

    This Month's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this Month
    1   Bicycle_Boy   2714
    2   Pantani1   2266
    3   greenedge   2263
    4   bort   2138
    5   Squire   2114

Whew. This one's not even close. Bicycle_Boy has a huge month, beating everyone else by about 450 points. When your lineup is headlined by Thomas (1123 points) and Sagan (594) and Alaphilippe (396), that is a good start - those 3 alone would be in the top 5 of this month's teams. Add in some Ion Izagirre (165) and it's a first place team with those four, even without the smattering of points from other riders. This week's winner Pantani1 grabs second, while greenedge has a very impressive showing, just being edged out and ending up in third.

    This Month's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Pantani1   (+52)
    2   Bicycle_Boy   (+42)
    3   zaka_fan   (+41)
    4   Carlo_Algatrensig   (+34)
    5   PremierAndrew   (+30)
    5   Josedin   (+30)

A very similar look to this table, with the top 2 spots flipped - in fact, Bicycle_Boy being on top of the other chart is the only thing stopping Pantani1 from sweeping the month as well as the week. Betraying how big this GC week was, it's interesting that 5th place for the month (+30) is the same as 5th place for the week.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   Squire   220
    2   greenedge   179
    3   Eric10   162
    4   Bicycle_Boy   160
    5   LightBing   150

Some movement here; Bicycle_Boy finishes off a torrid July with 113 points over the last four weeks to move into the top 5 overall. greenedge scores 22 points this week to leap into 2nd in the competition, but doesn't do quite as much to close down Squire, who scores 12 more points this week.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
    1   (-)   Squire   11501
    2   (-)   ruvu75   11321
    3   (-)   TheArt   11065
    4   (+2)   Gigs_98   10497
    5   (+7)   PeterB   10395
    6   (+10)   Bicycle_Boy   10139
    7   (-3)   Eyeballs Out   10055
    8   (-1)   trackstand   9936
    9   (+12)   bort   9929
    10   (+12)   greenedge   9916

Some real movement here, except at the very top. Which, let's talk about that - not only do the 3 podium holders stay put in their respective places, they remarkably finished 11th, 12th, and 13th on the week, with Squire gaining a mere 1 point on ruvu75 (1526-1525) and 4 on TheArt (1522). They are each separated by a few hundred points, and 4th-5th are over 600 down from there, so it's pretty stratified. But with the Tour over and the back end of the season starting, the question becomes, what has everyone got left? The stage is set for either some exciting flip-flopping or some stable status quo maintenance. We shall see. Some big shakeups in the top 10, as PeterB, Bicycle_Boy, bort and greenedge all power into the top 10, while Wallenquist, Total Package, MADRAZO and GP Blanco tumble out.
