Dumoulin could do worse than to have him in his team, but Sunweb seem stuck with a very narrow field of nationalities they like to recruit from.

Nacer Bouhanni will stay with #cofidis Cofidis for 2019
    Quote

While Bouhanni told L'Equipe that he had considered breaking his contract to move to Fortuneo-Samsic for 2019, he's now set to stay with Cofidis until the end of next year. Fortuneo, meanwhile, have signed German sprinter André Greipel from Lotto Soudal.

"I thought about leaving. I spoke to four or five other teams," he said. "When the situation just kept getting worse, I thought that Cofidis simply didn't want me anymore.

"But I wanted to know, and before the French national championships, I sat down with the team president, Thierry Vittu, and Cédric. They said they wanted to keep me until the end of my contract in 2019. Thierry is a director at an important company [Cofidis], and can calmly take the lead on such things, and I just wanted to be able to calmly do my job."

    Where's my popcorn? :D

    In other news:
    http://riwalcyclingteam.dk/da/teamet/teamnyheder/michael-skelde-bliver-sportsdirektoer-paa-riwal-ceramicspeed-cycling-team/
DS Michael Skelde #waoo --> bandying about for a couple of months --> #riwal

This is a big deal. In my opinion, getting Skelde as DS is a more important addition than any rider they could hope to sign. Since Blaudzun will be 'sportschef' (performance director) and Skelde will pure be DSing, you can expect some tactical masterstrokes from Riwal in 2019.
And with Skelde on board, I think that some of his former riders will be very eager to join, too: see here for predictions

A quick glance at his palmares doesn't give me too much belief that he'll hit the heights of his two fellow countrymen. Of course he still could be good, but just not very, very good.

I agree. He's more Yonathan Monsalve, Miguel Angel Rubiano, or Rodolfo Torres than José Rujano, Egan Bernal, or Ivan Sosa.

He was part of that memorable Colombian cabal on the Passo Manivia in the Baby Giro. Confused the heck out of me until I realised there were two Colombians called Muñoz. The other one, Cristian, seems the better but for sure no Bernal or Sosa either.

On the other hand, someone should definitely sign the winner of that stage Osorio. Still 20, he's going to be pretty good.

I like Fortin. Squeezed out of #bardiani because Reverberi favoured dubious climbers he kept the faith, got into that bonkers non-UCI crit series where they ride track bikes and worked hard to rack up results on the Europe Tour, which is important to #cofidis. He's no spring chicken but he really does deserve another shot and, now that COF has lost Navarro, it needs to remind us again of its longstanding tradition of hiring oddballs.

    from today's Het Nieuwsblad:

    #verandas Tim Merlier --> #pauwels Pauwels Sauzen
(tbc) #verandas Dries de Bondt --> #wanty Wanty Groupe Gobert
(tbc) #roompot Taco van der Hoorn --> #jumbo Lotto NL Jumbo

So far Roompot-Crelan has following riders under contract for 2019:

    #verandas Wout van Aert
    #verandas Huub Duijn
    #verandas Senne Leysen
    #verandas Arjen Livyns
    #verandas Mathias de Witte
    #roompot Jan-Willem van Schip
    #roompot Pieter Weening

Also #verandas Sean de Bie & Stijn Steels and #roompot Oscar Riesbeck & Sjoerd van Ginneken are almost sure to stay.

That's 11 riders so far, 18 they want to have in 2019. #jumbo Lars Boom is one of the names they'd like to sign, but he has declined the first offer

The aim of the talented 1994 class now "is to sit down as adults around a table and find a solution", but it seems clear that the intention is to terminate the contract, presumably to immediately anticipate his adventure with the Team Jumbo.

another step down the ladder for Skjerping? Or does Uno-X plan to take over the #1 spot in Norway?

That's pretty close to "they already have" if you look at their omni-present sponsor deals. #unox riders are favored for U23 national team races, the support organization counts former #sky DS (and racer, U-23 world championship winner etc..) Arvesen, former U23 Norway coach Stig Kristiansen and a couple of other very good trainers, partly recruited from Joker...

Joker's father company, Interspons (also backing the Tour of Norway race) was one of those pretty much robbed by the Bergen World Championship. There's never much talk about money in Norwegian cycling press but it seems quite likely #joker doesn't have a lot of it at the moment. Therein lies a possible explanation why SKjerping and Hoelgaard leaves.

The traditional norwegian conti teams like #joker haven't paid their riders much, whereas some Danish teams like #riwal are rumoured to pay riders with WT experience a lot better. That way you can get guys like CAS reeling in 99 attacks in the GP Lillehammer this weekend. I don't see Edvald going back to Joker doing that even if he races until he's 44 years old.  Maybe #unox is willing to offer older riders like Skjerping a better deal,  where they don't have to hang their lives on the relatively slim chance of a future WT contract?  (According to rumours, not much needed for winning the bids.)
Their impact as experienced role models for #unox large and varied U-23 cohort is appreciated by the management, and let me guess: that means money.

A couple of questions which could overturn the dominance: there are a couple of norwegian WT and pro conti riders without contracts for next year. If a few of those appear on the #joker:
#astana Truls Korsæth (most likely due to Lillehammer roots, and he might even miss his time trial bike..)
#fortuneo Sindre Lunke (another rider that went to Fortuneo for no improvement at all)

If it was just that, next year's Joker may still be on par with next year's #unox but the best riders are also leaving:
    #joker Rasmus Tiller --> #didata (already announced)
#joker Carl Fredrik Hagen --> #lotto (today's hot rumour from up north)

This leaves #joker with only 2 riders with good results from this year's squad: Henrik Evensen and Herman Dahl. Bjørn Tore Hoem also seems to be staying on - if he continues. That is actually not a bad combination (even if has a flat stage profile). The Joker system should not be undervalued, but some of the so-called Joker successes development-wise lately were imported from other conti teams, especially Sparebanken Sør : Halvorsen, Grøndal Jansen and Sindre Lunkem were all riders on the Kvålsvoll/Hushovd led team. Bergen-area riders Skjerping, Eiking and Lillehammer native Truls Korsæth are the "true" Joker exports of late.  One generation before that, the Vegards two: Breen and #uae  #champno Stake Laengen.

If no big changes, it is #joker that steps down, while Hoelgaard and Skjerping stay at their current level. Everything point to #unox will be the team to beat next year - but they deny any mentions about proconti-level and it doesn't look like they are building a squad for that at the moment. They say they are focusing on finding the best way to develop young riders, and Skjerping and Hoelgaard is part of that plan.
