    good fit, he can basically take Malucelli's role as the flat sprinter. Let's see if he can motivate himself for that though...

    #amplatz Matej Mugerli --> SPORT.LAND. Niederösterreich

    Quote
    The newly-formed Continental Team SPORT.LAND. Niederösterreich will be in the peloton as of 2019! Many thanks to everyone who helped us put this team together so quickly!

    Our first rider:
    Matej MUGERLI (SLO) brings WorldTour experience to our team. His biggest success so far is a stage win at the Volta a Catalunya 2006, and he has two Grand Tours in his palmares, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Espana. In 2017 he won the individual overall title in the Austrian Bundesliga, with his team Amplatz BMC taking the team title. He will have a dual role on the team, both as a rider and as part of team management. Good luck, Matej!

    https://www.facebook.com/pg/cyclingnoe/

    Mugerli is 37 now and basically did no races at all this year due to problems with his knee. He said with SportLand, he'd be "not just riding, but also serving as part of team management" - so it remains to be seen where exactly his focus will lie on, I guess.

    Generally, the new team will mainly focus on developing young Austrian riders by the way. So far they have signed eight of them (Julian Gruber , Marvin Hammerschmid, Raphael Hammerschmid, Michael Holland, Stefan Mastaller, Andreas Umhaller, Thomas Umhaller, Lukas Viehberger).

    #bahrain Ramunas Navardauskas --> #delko Team Delko Marseille Provence

    http://www.teamdelkomarseilleprovence.com/actualit%C3%A9s/presentation/88

     :slow

    when he started dangling around eastern and southern Europe with the Latvian National Team, it became pretty obvious already that Bahrain would not be interested in Navardauskas' services anymore - but Delko's practice of signing leftovers has not exactly been a success story so far, to say so...

    somehow #novonordisk Novo Nordisk found a decent rider, recently diagnozed with type 1 diabetes, who may actually have a chance to win something

    #amplatz Péter Kusztor --> #novonordisk Novo Nordisk

    https://www.teamnovonordisk.com/three-time-former-hungarian-national-champion-signs-team-novo-nordisk/

    He is a three-time Hungarian champion and (among others) was 4th in the 2013 edition of the Sibiu Tour.

    I've got zero knowledge on this subject really, but surely it's bizarre how he could get to his mid 30s doing a very strenuous job without even a hint that something was up.

    In theory of course his results should improve, what with now having some insulin in his body and eating properly, but it would be quite darkly funny (but not to the team and sponsor) if his pre-diagnosis results outshine the ones he now gets with them and all their help.

    Ignatas Konovalovas did time with Marseille before getting back to a better team.

    What's up, if anything, with Vadim Pronskiy?

    Ramunas is an old La Pomme alumnus, rode for them in 2010 before getting a neo-pro deal with Garmin-Cervélo-Barracuda-Sharp Vaughters.
    With that in mind, his return to Marseille makes sense.

    Sticky Bottle has some more info here on the guys behind the scenes at the team. Just in case, like me, you were wondering if they were a smoke and mirrors team. I'd be a bit more confident if they had a proper title sponsor.

    I've often thought that if we just put our minds to it, we could start a Conti team ourselves, call it VeloPROoms, and not be less professional than some other Conti teams that are around.
