Abu Dhabi Tour 2018
« on: February 21, 2018, 21:33 »
This isn't noticed at all, there's a WT race going on (last week of "the sandbox tour") and #uae may have naturalized Aleksander Kristoff, now winning comfortably on new home turf  :cool . While it was pretty straightforward making puns on his name with a russian affinity when he was racing for Katusha (and his brother in arms: Mihail Morchov), I can't get it right in arabic. Sheik All-Sand Race Toffee?

Kittel was hopeless again today. No speed at all and gave up.

And again on Stage 2. I haven't seen the footage but one assumes that, with a 82nd placing on the day, he never even tried today.

Viv having a roaring season so far.

    PCS result embedding
For some strange reason, the six-digit code in the URL when you click 'embed result' is not any longer the six-digit code that you have to copy and put between the PCS brackets.
Instead, you need to copy the six-digit code that's in the embed code 'window'.

It doesn't make sense to me either why there would be two different six-digit codes ... but such is life. :S

it was not. And not too unexpectedly, Dennis smashed the composition and now leads the gc. Dumoulin's mechanical after the 1st split came in handy though

today we will have the usual Jebell Hafeet finish (live coverage starts areound 12:45):

#bmc Dennis may be able to hang on and win the race, but it'll be tough against guys like Kelderman (+16s), Valverde (+24s), Alaphilippe (+34s) and probably also those with a bit more freedom at ~50s (Lopez, Zakarin, Majka, Yates and so on)

The accountant is on duty tonight:

    Last stage results:

Valverde's flat form curve is back where it usually is. I actually think Lopez had a surprisingly good sprint....almost!
I also think it is great to see #lotto Greipel and #uae Kristoff on team duty. Seems like both thought they needed one more hard day of racing.

Will Greipel target the classics this year?

    Overall Standings:

#white Best young rider: #astana Lopez
#green Points jersey (finish line): #quickstep Elia Viviani
#black Sprint jersey (intermediate):  #gazprom Nicolai Trusov
