Yes, they were! The marvelous modern materials did show at the very end though. Benoot wiped off the front of his jersey, and voila! There it was, as clean as if he'd had a nice stroll down the lane, but with his face still utterly caked with mud!

They should include the Bianche as a classic, just on the grounds that it often has the spring weather that is typically already gone by the time P-R rolls around these days.

The countryside was really beautiful this year, all the trees budding out, stuff coming up green. Showed up spring something awesome. If you like spring, of course, which I do.
