Gap down to half a minute. Sprint incoming. Aular got pretty close to Benfatto on stage one, maybe he can go one better today.

Could end up losing time as they must be very close to the finish.

Rivera ended up losing 4m50. It was a puncture initially which held him up, but then he had a collision with a moto that was following the race. He finished, but is off to the hospital for x-rays etc on his wrist

    It was Gianni's fault!

    Quote
According to the Venezuelan journalist Gerardo Cordero, a car that was driven by Gianni Savio from Rivera's team, stopped when he saw another member of his team (Benfatto) with a flat tire, action that caused the accident.

"Gianni Savio stopped suddenly and forgot that Rivera was close to him and caused the tico to hit the vehicle and fall. At that time a motorcycle one of the stewards also hit the car, which caused the bike to fall on Rivera's back, "

No break, just inflammation and a bit of a sprain. He'll start today's stage, but I wouldn't be surprised if he DNFs the race at some point.

I don't think Gianni is driving the cars anymore though. The start list also has Cheula as the DS for #androni Androni instead of Savio.

Yeah, I've never seen him drive a car himself in a race. He leaves that to his minions. :D

The start of the stage was held up for an hour after protests.

Today's stage isn't too tough. Aular thinks he might have a chance.

That earlier break was over before it even started. Got a new one.

The others include Monsalve, Camargo and Carlos Torres. Not far to go though.

Unfortunately my time for the rest of the race will be very limited. Shame as today's stage seemed a good'un.

    https://twitter.com/deporteszulia/status/1085268685072330752

Deportiva Tachira had a plan and attacked on the short descent. They now have five guys in the top-11 on GC.

Amazing performance from Aular. He couldn't quite stick with the fairly large peloton yesterday, but somehow managed to get third on today's much tougher stage. He's off to Matrix Powertag this year where he should at least get a decent pay packet, if not too many UCI race days.

I think the stage might be over, but there hasn't been any tweets or news about the race for ~40 minutes.

    https://twitter.com/diariodlosandes/status/1085943474174738432

This was the break, but the gap was a bit closer. Briceno the virtual leader.

Don't forget he did crash on stage 3. Sixth on yesterday's stage was pretty good going considering.

Leaving all that aside though, I generally don't see him as having that sort of potential. Tbh I don't think any of Androni's current South American crop will turn out to be much cop.
