Lucas Hamilton looking good so far in Herald Sun Tour. Robert Stannard is also performing better than I had anticipated but the stage to Arthurs Seat will probably a bit too much for him.

Is looking good flow. The other Hamilton will get more freedom this year I think that is why I went Chris not Lucas.

I think I might be the front runner for the most boneheaded pick of this years game.

Is there any more news about Tosh van der Sande and his positive doping test?

Obviously I'm asking for a friend.

All good best pick ever :D

Dropped to 7th on GC despite matching Woods on the final climb. And to make it worse I did consider Schultz for a very long time. But Hamilton is still looking in great shape. I hope you're wrong and he'll have some more freedom.

As a unique pick I now just need him to score about 8,000 points this year and I might be in with a chance of winning.

OK week for me. Not spectacular. Most disappointing was two riders that were on my shortlist, Schultz and Turgis, scoring significant points. But on the plus side, I had several of my rare picks score points, Venturini, Hamilton, Barguil. I can't be too unhappy.

     San Juan
    Mattia Cattaneo 9
    Remco Evenepoel 35
    Fernando Gaviria 52

    Herald Sun Tour
    Lucas Hamilton 45
    Robert Stannard 3
    Kristoffer Halvorsen 37
    Luke Rowe 10

    Mallorca Challenge
    Marcel Kittel 80
    Ilnur Zakarin 5
    Fabio Aru 26
    Warren Barguil 32

    GP La Marseillaise
    Clement Venturini 24

    This week:
    Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana
    Esteban Chaves
    Harry Tanfield
    Ivan Cortina
    Nacer Bouhanni
    Alexandr Riabushenko

    Etoile de Bessèges
    Clement Venturini
    Fabio Felline
    Edward Theuns

    Not expecting many points

Update #4: First place is nbd for jsg

The season is still revving up, with 2.1 races giving some of us our first glimpses of parts of our team, the slow unveil that takes place through January and February allowing us to see if our picks are getting off to a good start or are worryingly invisible. These little nibbles will have to tide us over until Opening Weekend and Paris-Nice blow the whole thing wide open in a month. Even though the CQ update season is only 4 weeks long, there are some familiar faces returning at the top of the charts this week.

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   Londonpat   519
    2   just_some_guy   425
    3   yoyokt   376
    4   karaev   345
    5   oliveira   337

A fantastic week for Londonpat, one of two teams with Dylan Van Baarle, who scored 129 points this week (and one of 99 with Marcel Kittel, who scored 80). But it's the supporting cast that really puts it over the top, with at least 25 points from Barguil, Aru, Gaviria, Sivakov, Halvorsen, Lucas Hamilton, Van Asbroeck, McLay, and Evenepoel. It's a team sport! just some guy comes in with a great showing in second, being one of two teams to own the other 2.1 winner this week, or should I say Winner (142 points). Again, with help from a solid supporting cast, including Porte on top of 5 of the other riders named above. Third place goes to yoyokt, who has decent points from no fewer than 7 of the aforementioned riders, but no 2.1 winner to put their team any higher on the list.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Londonpat   (+47)
    2   karaev   (+34)
    3   GP Blanco   (+29)
    4   LukasCPH   (+28)
    4   skidmark   (+28)

Londonpat doubles up here, although the other two from the podium were already high up in the overall so they didn't have much farther to move and thus aren't represented here. Still a lot of movement this early in the game, and karaev leaps over 30 points (only notable rider not mentioned yet - Bernal) for second while GP Blanco squeezes out the podium spot (the other Van Baarle owner!)

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   just_some_guy   95
    2   Googolplex   56
    3   yoyokt   50
    4   TheArt   48
    5   Londonpat   45

just some guy blasts into the lead of this competition, adding 35 points to the 30 from week 1 and the 30 from week 2. Seriously impressive start to the season, only two other teams are within a weekly win (45 points) already! yoyokt grabs 30 points on top of 20 from week 2, and Londonpat squeezes into the top 5 solely on the basis of the weekly win. This competition is getting off to a flying start already.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
    1   (+1)   just_some_guy   1018
    2   (+8)   yoyokt   887
    3   (-2)   MADRAZO   879
    4   (-)   Blues in the bottle   839
    5   (+4)   Amis_Velo   835
    6   (-3)   TheArt   826
    7   (-1)   PremierAndrew   816
    8   (-1)   Squire   794
    9   (+47)   Londonpat   790
    10   (-2)   Otoxiep87   785

Continuing this week's dominance, just some guy becomes the first team to cross 1000 points in the game, and is rewarded with the #1 spot overall. With a solid weekly showing building on an already impressive start, yoyokt slots into second while last week's leader MADRAZO slides slightly to third. Lots of big leaps this week but the top 10 is starting to gain consistency, with only Londonpat jumping in, and Googolplex falling out.

This week is a little quiet but keeps things moving, with two 2.1 races in France and Spain.

If sh*tty rider agents can get a UCI certificate, totally awesome CQ entry agents deserve at least the same. I propose  a VR certified 10% agent commission for Flo, levied on all CQ points that JSG clocks up this year.

Update #5: MADRAZO Back on Top After Quiet Week

With only two 2.1 races on schedule this week, and very few riders in the top 10 of each affecting this game (for example, nobody had winners Izaguirre and Laporte), it was a somewhat muted week. Let's see who had the best combo of riders!

    This Week's Top Scorers

    Rank   Team   Points this week
    1   Nicosix   233
    2   Carlo_Algatrensig   190
    3   MADRAZO   178
    4   Kazistuta   171
    5   PeterB   155

Nicosix is the only team topping 200 this week, largely coming from being one of 6 teams with Adam Yates (54 points) and one of 9 teams with Edvald Boasson Hagen (68 points), and smaller contributions from Trentin, Meintjes, and Reinhardt JVRensberg. Carlo Algatrensig sits in second on the back of Yates, Felline, Meintjes, Gibbons, and Eliot Lietaer. MADRAZO, who has already featured in a few updates this season, gets third this week.

    This Week's High Movers

    Rank   Team   Up/down
    1   Nicosix   (+29)
    2   Kazistuta   (+19)
    3   Koronin   (+18)
    3   PeterB   (+18)

Nicosix takes this one as well, moving up almost 30 spots on a 233 point week, reminding us that it's still February and everyone is still close in the standings. Kazistuta moves up almost 20 spots after just missing the podium on the other ranking (on the backs of some of the common picks this week like Yates, Felline, Trentin, Meintjes); Koronin (using some points from unique pick Valverde) and PeterB tie for the last podium spot here.

    Green Jersey Competition

    Rank   Team   Total
    1   just_some_guy   95
    2   MADRAZO   73
    2   Googolplex   73
    4   TheArt   68
    5   Nicosix   55

Lots of action on this table once again; last week I noted that jsg had an impressive lead after scoring in 3 of the first 4 weeks, but this week MADRAZO (30 points), Googolplex (17 points) and TheArt (20 points) all score for the third of five weeks to pull close to the top, whereas Nicosix gets 45 for the win on top of 10 prior points. The start of the season has been really lively in this competition - normally a few different teams win weeks and tie near the top with 45 points, but lots of jumping around so far has made this ranking pretty hectic.

    Top 10 Overall

    Rank   Up/down   Team   Points
    1   (+2)   MADRAZO   1057
    2   (-1)   just_some_guy   1018
    3   (+3)   TheArt   980
    4   (-)   Blues in the bottle   949
    5   (+2)   PremierAndrew   948
    6   (+2)   Squire   941
    7   (-5)   yoyokt   921
    8   (-3)   Amis_Velo   903
    9   (-)   Londonpat   895
    10   (+3)   Googolplex   872

After reclaiming the top spot last week and becoming the first team over 1000 points, just some guy gets a big fat zero points on the week, allowing MADRAZO's strong week to vault their team back on top. With the small point totals on the week, not a ton of dramatic leaps, but Googolplex comes into the top 10 at the expense of Otoxiep87.

This week - whew! Things really kick off. Tour of Colombia, Provence and Murcia (all 2.1) roll out over the next 3 days, followed by Oman (HC) starting Saturday, and the two 1.HC races Almeria and Laigueglia on Sunday. We shall see where the dust settles.

Worthless week for me as well. Only spark of hope is Gaudu. Barguil, Gaviria, Felline, Cattaneo all truly disappointing.

    No good!

This week's riders in action, I am hoping Fabbro can score some points in Oman with the low quality GC field there, although it seems he lost a bit of time today. Looks like this week could be a really poor week again for me or could be pretty decent. Let's see.
