Evenepoel is on the way of being ineligible next year. I make the bold prediction DJW, Leadbelly and I won't win this edition.

The leader is the top scorer of the month, and so Skidmark's lead stretches from 31 to 162.  The highest placed mover is Squire, and DJW and Flo have also risen within the top ten, with Hakkie and Vladimir joining the top ten.  Laarsland has an 11 place boost.

    Year 1, Month 6 3rd to 30th June

Our first big win of the season, and the hype that 90% believed is looking true.

EVENEPOEL Remco      297 (Overall GC, with a stage win, leader points, plus third in national ITT and Limbirg Hammer team win) for 28 teams
LEKNESSUND Andreas      124 (National TT Champ, and 2nd in the road race, and Course de la Paix stage and GC wins) for Alykaptan, Lukas CPH and Squire
VAN ROOY Kenneth      87 (8th in national RR and lots of small point hauls) for DJW
LEYDER Pit      78 (12th in Tour of Lux and 3rd in national RR) for Joelsim
RODRIGUEZ GARAICOECHEA Oscar      74 (10th in Occitanie, 8th in Mt Ventoux, 7th in national ITT)   9 teams
    BUDYAK Anatoliy      56   1
    HAYTER Ethan      50   6
    LARSEN Niklas      50   2
    OURSELIN Paul      50   1

but we all missed Daniel Munoz, winner of the Tour of Bihor, and Filippo Zaccanti, winner of the Tour of Korea, both outscoring all bar Evenepoel this month.

1   AlyKaptan   690 (Evenepoel, Leknessund, Rodriguez and Larsen)
2   Squire   662 (Evenepoel, Leknessund and Hayter)
3   LukasCPH   623  (Evenepoel, Leknessund, Ourselin and Larsen)
4   Joelsim   613  (Evenepoel and Leyder)
    5   Cordi   577
    6   Madrazo   571
    7   Laarsland   559
    8   AmisVelo   547
    9   Kryvo   526
    10   Kazistuta   521
    11   Del_1962   518
    11   Scrooll07   518
    13   Ludwigzgz   513
    14   Flo   511
    15   Karaev   510
    16   Vladimir   509
    17   Hakkie   499
    18   Skidmark   496

    26   Fauniera   374
    27   Koronin   372
    28   Josedin   364
    29   DJW   209
    30   Leadbelly   185
    31   RoteLaterne   166
       CollectiveWisdom   497
       CollectiveIgnorance   918

    Standings

Top scorer in June, and he was already in second: AlyKaptan takes the lead.  Squire leapfrogs Ludwigzgz to move 3rd, and behind that nearly everyone moves up as DJW suffers an Evenepoel related drop from 5th to 16th: he would be right up among the leaders if he hadn't been so resistant to the hype.  But none rise so rapidly as Joelsim, up 6 places and into the top ten.

    1   AlyKaptan   2077
    2   Skidmark   2045
    3   Squire   1960
    4   Ludwigzgz   1855
    5   Kazistuta   1739
    6   Flo   1620
    7   Comodoro   1529
    8   Joelsim   1526
    9   Vladimir   1505
    10   Hakkie   1498
    11   Madrazo   1488
    12   Laarsland   1487
    13   Kryvo   1486
    14   Cordi   1457
    15   AmisVelo   1453
    16   DJW   1436
    17   Del_1962   1383
    18   Blues_in_the_Bottle   1328
    19   Karaev   1323
    20   HugoKoblet   1312
    21   Scrooll07   1303
    22   SafeBet   1264
    22   Fauniera   1264
    24   Armchair_Cyclist   1246
    25   LukasCPH   1184
    26   Josedin   977
    27   JonEzeitza   937
    28   Will10   906
    29   Leadbelly   891
    30   RoteLaterne   873
    31   Koronin   831
       CollectiveWisdom   1368
       CollectiveIgnorance   2896

I believe Paul Ourselin is the only rider selected in this who is riding the Tour de France, so we will have to look outside the hexagon for our July points.

Can't be sure when I am travelling, so July, for the purposes of our emergent games, might end on the 28th, or might end on 4th August: hopefully one of those two.

    Until then, here's the spreadsheet.

Leknessund and Bagioli look soooo good... Two more that were in my pre-list. Finally I chose other two '99 guys, Donovan and Arensman, who are having an awful season so far, with injuries and health problems.

I'm away from my laptop for a few days, so the update won't be for the first Monday as I usually try.  Will probably do a mid August update, and then late September (after the Vuelta).  Same applies to the other two current editions.

    Year 1, Month 7-8a 1 July to 11 August

Waiting until next year to pick Evenepoel really didn't work out for three teams

EVENEPOEL Remco      325 pts (San Sebastian win, Euro ITT win, Adriatica stage win and top ten overall)   28 teams
RIVERA SERRANO Kevin      145 (Sibiu Tour win and stage)       13
HIGUITA GARCIA Sergio Andres      124 (4th in Tour de Pologne)   3
    BERGSTRÖM FRISK Erik      85   1
    CONCI Nicola      76   12
    DE BOD Stefan      71   4
    STEIMLE Jannik      62   3
    VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas      57   5
    VAN ROOY Kenneth      56   1
    PARET-PEINTRE Aurélien      49   5

Joao Rodrigues and Daniel Munoz both got over 100, to the benefit of none of us.

1   Skidmark   804 (Evenepoel, Rivera, Higuita, Steimle and Vingegaard)
2   Joelsim   785 (Evenepoel, Rivera, Conci and Paret-Peintre)
3   HugoKoblet   754  (Evenepoel, Rivera, Conci and Vingegaard)

    31   RoteLaterne   98
       CollectiveWisdom   676
       CollectiveIgnorance   676

    Standings

Skidmark was 2nd at the end of June, but top scorer this period, and 300 points more than the previous leader, gives a vert healthy looking lead at this stage. Joelsim and Vladimir make progress within the top ten, and Armchair Cyclist jumps 10 places to the heights of mid-table obscurity.

I need to do something tonight or tomorrow about getting the Vuelta game up and running, so that will occupy me for several weeks.  Expect the next update to be either late Sept or early October.
