The baby Giro boys going one better than main event today, with a double ascent of the Mortirolo.
The first ascent is from the south (i.e. 'wrong') side though. I don't know if a race has ever used that side to climb before?
They could have done this instead, using the 'traditional' side from Mazzo twice and adding the drag to Aprica - and the stage doesn't even get longer. Only downside is that the first ascent wouldn't be all the way to the top, but 'only' to "Bivio di/per Grosio" at 1570 metres.
