He could actually get a decent train at Corendon, but I can't help feeling that he'd be better off forgetting sprints, or at least not totally focusing on them, and instead look at slightly tougher classics or even getting in breaks (was it in Luxembourg a few years back he had some great breakaway action on hilly days?).

Yes that makes a lot of sense - he seemed very down in temporarily signing off soc media last week- so will be good to see him back in more viable role in a new team - could be a decent autumn to his career.

    The Austrians are getting the band back together

    #ccc Riccardo Zoidl
    #cofidis Filippo Fortin
    --> #felbermayr Team Felbermayr - Simplon Wels

    https://rowery.org/2019/10/09/riccardo-zoidl-wraca-do-domu/

    Both deserved a(nother) shot at higher level, but in the end a good continental team is probably were they belong

    Dutchies ---------> #riwal

    Some good riders they've picked up.

    The article also talks about the Dutch parent company of Riwal examining the possibility of getting onboard with the team.

    https://twitter.com/WielerFlits/status/1183955853688356865

    Havik signs up too. He had a seriously impressive win at GP Stad Zottegem back in August.

    Vital, Wanty, NTT and ICA were interested as well.

    In addition Asselman is in negotiation with the latter.

    Signings I like, but whether they are WT we'll have to wait and see.

    For Vahtra the "plan is to use the Estonian as part of the team’s Sprint “train” in bigger races and give him a chance to win in smaller ones". The train is one area that definitely needed some attention.

    Quote
    Vahtra admitted that after he got the final confirmation that ICA will sign him, “ I could not sleep all night. It was the happiest day of my life”.

    He had a contract with Katusha for 2020 so IKA surely must still pay him this amount (or at the very least the shortfall between that and PCT minimum wage).

    Hmmmm a more experienced upgrade on Schreurs would be one way of looking at it, but I don't see why Dempster/Boivin couldn't do the same role with the added bonus of them both being able to go for results themselves when the opportunity presented itself.

    Yeah, they can't lay everything at the door of Acquadro. The vast majority of the signings for this year look like minimum wagers. They could be good riders a year or three down the line, but that's not going to help in 2020.

    so does van Schip himself, by the sound of it ;)

    “I’ve seen that BEAT has taken enormous steps by thinking differently and acting differently. It’s an approach that suits me well, and that’s why I think it’s great to be part of this ambitious club,” said van Schip. “I’ve made the Olympics my main goal for 2020, and together we will follow a targeted process to make sure I’m optimally prepared. In the run-up to the Games, and afterward, I want to show that I can ride super hard and that we can see everyone off in the finale.”

    Van Schip concluded with an appeal: “I want to demonstrate what I can do next year and show that the big teams have it wrong. But I can’t do it alone, so I invite everyone to be a part of this. We need cycling enthusiasts who stand firmly behind us, partners who support our process and race organizers who help create a good program. What I really like is that all this comes together at BEAT, a club with a community, ambitious partners and a road team that’s growing quickly. With this team we hope to grow into the UCI ProSeries and participate in the top-level competitions in 2021, where BEAT and I belong.”
