70th Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana
« on: February 05, 2019, 19:08 »

The official theme song for the Volta 2019 is released
Ñekü presented their new single “Volver a verte” during a live presentation this week. This song is the official theme song of the 70th Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana Gran Premi Banc Sabadell.

“Volver a verte” is the new single presented by the Valencian music band Ñekü. This song is included in the playlist of their new album 36 Seconds, available in the shops from January 2019 onwards. Meanwhile “Volver a verte”, the new official song of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana Gran Premi Banc Sabadell, is already available on all digital platforms. For the second consecutive year, Ñekü has been chosen to represent the events theme song, “Cada Amanecer” being their song during VCV 2018 edition. This song reached more than 200,000 Valencian households via television as it was played during the competition.

The Volta 2019 will be held from February 6th to 10th, and as a novelty, the first VCV Féminas race will be held on February 10th, sharing the VCV departure and arrival zone.

Ñekü expressed their gratitude for Ángel Casero, Director of the VCV, and his organisation for once again trusting on them for producing the soundtrack for the oldest sporting event held in the region. This Friday, December 14th, the song "Volver a Verte” will be played live in front of the audience for the first time at the Wah Wah in Valencia, also at the same time being their farewell concert for this year.

    EEEEEEEDVALLLLLDDD?? !!! ?=!?!?!?!?  That was today's bomb!  :S

I did not in my dreams see that coming..must be 3 years since he last won an international time trial. It is not that he can't ride ITT (he has a lifelong subscription for our #champno jersey.) It is just that so far with #didata, he has barely practiced on the TT bike. Could it be that the new bike sponsor BMC has better material than the old supplier and is more eager to sell their bikes? They might have pushed for someone on the team to ride team trials for victories, and #didata doesn't have a lot of riders to choose from for that. Edvald, get on that TT bike and do some training!

off into the climbs today, with a hill top finish in Chera

The finish itself is not super tough, but with more than 3000m of climbing over the day, it should probably be enough to take most of the sprinter types of riders out of contention for the win.

And we are in Spain, where #rainbow Valverde usually wins every stage which somehow suits him anyway. ;)

the finishing climb today should be a bit too tough for him though

It was also used early on in the 2017 Vuelta, when Lutsenko won from a breakaway. Back in the field, there was not too much of a selection

The last short sprint - stage around the city of Valencia with a downtown finish was marred by a crash on the last kilometer, but the best sprinters were already ahead, except Dylan Groenewegen, who suddenly materialized at the back of the ahead-of-the-crash-group and proceeded to teleport himself to a position about 2,5 cm ahead of #uae Aleksander Kristoff at the finish line. #champeu #mitchelton Matteo Trentin was also very close, as was his leadout. Possibly the most impressive sprint so far this year!

As for the overall: when I was young, I was out skiing with my parents and my brother, and me and my brother crashed (me being the older, my parents always said I crashed into him...) Anyway, it seems that Ion and Gorka's parents have come to the same conclusions as our parents did back then: "I think it is best for both of them if we train them separately for a while".

With no Gorka to crash into, a well-disciplined #astana hands the first stage-race overall victory of the year to Ion Izagirre.  :)
