The eighteen incumbents +  #arkea #vital #cofidis #direct #academy

We talked about it in the auto-wildcard thread a while back, but Katusha definitely and possibly Dimension Data and CCC should be looking over their shoulders in trepidation.

    What a mess. :fp

so it seems the automatic wild card for GT for the top 2 ranked Pro-conti teams have been scrapped

    it could be a mess.
imagine Direct-Energie and Cofidis getting the last 2 WT spots. 4 French teams at the Giro? at the Vuelta?

well, with basically only French teams applying, that's what will happen. In a three year ranking, I can't see #academy Cycling Academy coming close. They almost scored no points at all in 2017

The backtracking makes sense though, the retro-rankingsystem can´t be fair if the years before it was decided counts. It is the original decision that is flawed, lacking the legal perspective on implementation.

    Absolutely.
It's still :fp that nobody thought about that before putting it in the rulebook.
