Vuelta 2019 General Discussion
« on: April 18, 2019, 19:21 »
We'll probably need a thread for this sooner rather than later as the wildcard announcement must be coming soon. We knew them by April 10th last year.

Are they waiting to give Burgos a chance to show some signs of life?

I'm going for Burgos - best result this season so far is 18th.

Since I posted this they have improved on that miserable record with Gibson scoring a 7th today in Turkey. However from a sporting perspective it's difficult to see them being worthy of the golden ticket.

Other options?

W-52 aren't exactly tearing up trees, Vital Concept would seem the likeliest beneficiaries and it's no stretch of the imagination to see Rolland winning from a break or Coquard enjoying the usually weaker sprint field, Delko are doing all right recently, the Geeeeeeeks have the money and some okay riders or Rally as a real left field shout.

No surprise, but Burgos showed nothing so far, even Caja Rural is weaker than last year but still the best spanish PC team. As a non-spanish fan I would have preferred an invitation for a different PC team. Although I understand that the Vuelta is the most important race for spanish teams and racing it the way to secure sponsorship.
