Nothing in their Twitter feed, which has been inactive for months now.
They probably focused their energies on the team's last races.
If they knew they were winding down, the motivation to keep Social Media on full blast will have been small.

Doing it anyway might have helped in securing a new sponsor - but knowing the US cycling scene (and cycling in general, if we're honest), it might also just have been a lot of effort for nothing.

Shame to see another team closing shop. :(

I suspect that this would've been their fate a year ago had Floyd not stepped in. It seems that his contributions were just enough to keep them above water for one more year.

I wonder how aggressively they were seeking sponsorship for 2020. They seemed to do all that they could, with some good placings and visibility, but they must of known from the outset that Floyd wouldn't be able to sustain the team on his own.

Plus, have they no respect for your team smileys?!?!   :yuush

    #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd #floyd

I'm also forced to wonder what will become of their team kits and, more importantly, those team bikes.   :snooty

Oh, I agree. The team would have closed last year already if it hadn't been for Floyd.

I shouldn't have been worried about their future after all.

there should be a new US continental team as well next season. Haven't heard much, but could be some of the old Jamis crew

Heard same rumor - Tom or Sebastian begins it maybe? Probably good with a team or two folding. Wonder what gear the new team is on.

yeah, I heard that Sebas was looking for races for "his new team", but as it just turned out, he will be with #aevolo Aevolo as a DS next year.

So either (his) plans changed, or it was just a misinterpretation because of the wording.

Vini Fantini on the ICA kits?

    Yes.

    https://www.ilmessaggero.it/sport/altrisport/la_farnese_vini_riporta_italia_world_tour_firmato_contratto_sciotti_la_israel_cycling_academy-4877719.html

With Sbaragli surprisingly leaving and Minali surely heading for the exit, that will leave Cimolai as the sole Italian. Could Stinky be a late transfer in to bolster the numbers?

Astana with an Italian bike ... expect some Italian signings (of bigger calibre than Boaro and Martinelli) for 2021.
ICA has been rumoured for a while, now confirmed.
Cofidis - their new WT status and guaranteed Giro invite will have played a role, I believe. Maybe even a special kit for the Giro?

Do Kuota and Argon 18 have any pro teams for 2020?
And which bikes will #total use now? Still Wilier?

Over in Italy, #neri Neri steps down as the name sponsor of Scinto's team, and Farnese up again. The team will be called Vini Zabù KTM in 2020.

yeah, this seems to be the case

    https://www.uci.org/inside-uci/press-releases/granting-ofuciwomen%E2%80%99s-worldtour-licences-and-uci-worldtour-licences-and-registration-of-uci-women%E2%80%99s-worldteams-uci-worldteams-and-uci-proteams-for-the-2020-season

I hadn't read about #wallonie Wallonie getting (the sports betting site) Bingoal on board as a sponsor by the way. I'd need to check the detailed rules again, but they could be in trouble for that

edit: the rules are fairly clear:

Sponsorship by betting companies is forbidden, except where:
    - The betting operator abstains from organising bets in relation to [...] events in which the team concerned takes part
    - The betting operator is affiliated to the competent national monitoring authority for sports bets [...]

the 2nd point is no problem (they are licensed in Belgium), but the 1st one probably is. Usually they would be offering bets for lots of races in Belgium (and Wallonie takes part in more or less all of those).

good to see that they got some talented and experienced guys togteher in Oram, Gate and McCormick. Where is Cyrus Monk though?!

Most of the others are really, really young, 4 of the 9 guys on the team are 18 or younger - let's see if they'll really make it over to Europe for a couple of races.

It's no surprise that Alpecin find a new team to sponsor, and that team has long been rumoured to be #corendon - actually, no other team would have made sense, really.
And since (parts of) Corendon were taken over by Sunweb, an eventual departure of that sponsor was expected too.

It is strange that this is the only source - but maybe everyone else who knows is simply respecting an embargo until 1 January, and these guys heard of the rumour somewhere and aren't bound to the embargo.

In fact, looking at the article with my rudimentary Czech and the help of auto-translating, it could be an article that was supposed to be released on 1 January, but somebody hit 'publish' too early. :shh

I'm copy-pasting the text here - because it may disappear again sooner rather than later.

Kromě Van der Poela bude v týmu Alpecin-Fenix v roce 2020 závodit i mnoho dalších světových cyklistů, včetně cyklokrosové hvězdy Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado a bikerů Ronji Eibl a Samuela Gaze.

V silničních závodech bude v dresu Alpecin-Fenix jezdit mezi jiným z EF Education First přicházející italský sprinter Sascha Modolo, belgický šampion Tim Merlier či výborný dánský dráhař Lasse Norman Hansen.

CANYON continues with ALPECIN-FENIX (formerly Corendon-Circus)!

Since January 2020, the team of Mathieu Van der Poel - and now Petr Vakoč - has been renamed. But they don't change bicycles. Cooperation with the German Canyon will continue.

Alpecin-Fenix is a new name for a team run by visionary brothers Philip and Christoph Roodhooft, who spoils superstar Mathieu van der Poel at his center and is preparing for his second season in the Pro Continental category.

Mathieu van der Poel will lead Alpecin-Fenix across disciplines, as he is known to be successful in cyclocross, mountain biking and on the road. The number one goal of Mathieu van der Poel in the 2020 season is the gold medal at the XCO race at the Tokyo Olympics!

Roman Arnold, founder and director of Canyon Bicycles GmbH, said: “We are delighted to continue working with Alpecin-Fenix as a sponsor and partner in supplying bicycles. From the beginning, we believed in Philip and Christoph Roodhooft's vision to create a multidisciplinary team that could be competitive in more than one discipline. And the famed Mathieu van der Poel racing on all terrain on Canyon bikes is just incredible. So far we have had an incredible number of victories in all categories, so we can't wait to see the 2020 season for Alpecin-Fenix! ”

In addition to Van der Poel, the Alpecin-Fenix team will also race many other world cyclists in 2020, including the Cyclocross star Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado and bikers Ronji Eibl and Samuel Gaze.

In road races, the Alpecin-Fenix jersey will include the Italian sprinter Sascha Modolo coming from EF Education First, Belgian champion Tim Merlier and the excellent Danish tracker Lasse Norman Hansen.

Alpecin-Fenix expands the number of German competitors in the team. Alexander Krieger comes from Leopard in Luxembourg to Marcel Meisen and Philipp Walsleben, who are mainly cyclocross riders, and Walsleben is a former U23 cyclocross world champion.

Alpecin-Fenix will use Canyon Aeroad, Ultimate and Speedmax on the road. In mountain biking, the team can choose full suspension Canyon Lux or hardtail Canyon Exceed. Canyon Inflite is a bike designed for cyclocross and Canyon Grail for gravel racing.

No sign of @AlpecinFenix on Twitter or anything similar on Instagram or Facebook.

Not that they'd ever post anything on the accounts of course....

Corendon-Circus (in)famously deleted their Twitter account last December. ;)
So they probably wouldn't (see the need to) 'reserve' a new name there.

No idea if such things would be necessary on Instagram or Facebook.

If all else fails, they could just re-purpose the various Alpecin Cycling channels.

EDIT: The article is no longer available on roadcycling.cz. Which can only mean one thing in my book: Somebody hit a button they shouldn't have hit for another two weeks. :cool

First New Zealand CT team that we've seen for a few years.

Nothing compares to the finest Kiwi team ever assembled.

2010 Tour of the Southland (Orca Velo Merino team).  :P

FWIW: I had dig up my first ever CN post (nine years ago!) to find that pic.  ;)

"ORCA VELO MERINO"! Hell of a name! One smart whale, and cute to boot; a machine of beauty and miraculous technology that I love; and a superior fabric material that is second to none.

But, is that FLOYD? He's no Kiwi? OMG, a simple google tells me it IS Floyd! Well, will wonders never cease.
