He certainly put himself in the shop window with his late season run of form. In quite a few of those late season Italian one-day races he was the only IPT rider to really put in a shift. A case in point would be Lombardia where he was in the BOTD that got caught with a fair bit to go and still ended up finishing ahead of Fugly and co.

I wouldn't be against him having one more year with IPT.

    Finally confirmation. Only one year tells a story me thinks.

    Unfortunately, like most riders in the team, he's not so great on the lumpier cobbles but races like PR/Le Samyn/Antwerp Port Epic should be more up his street and he can help out (and occasionally get his own chance) in the sprint classics.

    The question is, where is EF getting all this money from? :betting

    They've gone from needing to "sell" Martinez and Woods, to "buying" Cepeda, Piccolo and Frollicks. Plus a couple(?) of million in salary for Carapaz?

    yeah, was thinking that when they signed Carapaz already. I guess Uran got a hefty pay cut, and Valgren also doesn't need to be paid in full anymore as long as he can't race, but it's still a bit of a surprise

    After the roadcycling.cz annual report on ATT the other week, now it's the turn of Elkov and there is some extra transfer news.

    https://www.roadcycling.cz/clanek/vladimir-vavra-mame-za-sebou-top-sezonu-s-rekordnim-bodovym-ziskem

    Jakub Toupalik --------> EF Devo

    Kukrle -------> ???

    I don't think they're saying he's heading to Caja too, just that he's leaving, but google translate isn't 100% clear.

    Youngsters will be replacing those two and the already known Otruba/Babor.

    Difficult to see where he could end up? The MPCC crew would be put off by that "arrest" on drug trafficking in the summer. Bridges have been burnt at Movistar (and now Astana). Bahrain maybe, but with Haig/Landa/Caruso they don't need him as such and aren't known to be rolling in money.

    Maybe a 1-yr deal with Ryder and Q36.5?

    yeah, a really odd one, but the team seems to be somehow connected to "MyWhoosh", so that's probably the reason.

    Will a former #pink jersey be enough to secure a Giro spot?

    Meanwhile, also #trek Simon Pellaud has terminated his contract one year early

    https://twitter.com/TrekSegafredo/status/1587444290074152963

    He is struggling with long Covid, so that likely plays a part. May still sign for Tudor on a reduced program, I guess.

    Corratec themselves might be an option for Pellaud too. I can see him riding Tachira/San Juan for them at the start of the season.

    As for the Giro, I don't think it will happen. Even with the possibility of three wildcards (Total have said they'll likely only do two GTs) there are other (four?) teams ahead of them in the pecking order. Sure ask for an invite, but just get your head down through the year and focus on getting results and putting in performances (in other RCS races def) that'll get you noticed for 2024.

    I was reading a bit of an interview with the main guy at Dsnty (or whatever the spelling is) a week or two back and he was talking about wanting the team to race internationally and not just SSBRs (I'm paraphrasing slightly :P) as his company are a global brand.

    Currently only 24 riders are signed up for 2023, so yes that's a bit tight to be racing three GTs, but if they get a couple more on board it's not difficult to imagine Ewan (plus train) doing half the race and a couple of youngsters given free rein to try for breakaways.

    According to the Cicloweb Forum, Corratec is likely to sign three riders with WT experience, from three different continents. The rumour mill over there says it's gonna be:

    formerly #cofidis: Natnael Berhane
    formerly #trek: Charlie Quarterman
    formerly #uae (stagiaire): Nicolás Tivani

    https://twitter.com/PierreCarrey_/status/1589344233684865024

    Jan Christen won't be joining the main UAE squad directly, but will instead enjoy a brief sojourn with their new devo team (so new I haven't heard of them forming one before).

    Always fun to see who else they sign up. Maybe a young UAE rider? Pickering who left Groupama Devo? Probably a Slovenian or three.
