Pink points

When we include all the CQ points available (not only the GC or pink jersey bonuses: pink points are what I call our main classification), the top scoring riders are:
HINDLEY Jai      676      7 teams
CARAPAZ MONTENEGRO Richard Antonio      587      7
DEMARE Arnaud      357      1
LOPEZ PEREZ Juan Pedro      356      1
LANDA MEANA Mikel      346      27
HIRT Jan      311      0
NIBALI Vincenzo      285      3
BOUWMAN Koen      284      0
BILBAO LOPEZ DE ARMENTIA Pello      273      1
VAN DER POEL Mathieu      264      6
BUITRAGO SANCHEZ Santiago      235      0
BUCHMANN Emanuel      197      5
CICCONE Giulio      189      9
CARTHY Hugh      184      18
POZZOVIVO Domenico      182      4
GAVIRIA RENDON Fernando      177      5
CAVENDISH Mark      170      0
ARENSMAN Thymen      166      11
KÄMNA Lennard      161      12
GIRMAY HAILU Biniam      160      4
YATES Simon      140      18
VALVERDE BELMONTE Alejandro      134      0
MOLLEMA Bauke      130      0
LEEMREIZE Gijs      127      1
DAINESE Alberto      122      1
COVI Alessandro      116      0
KELDERMAN Wilco      115      3
HAMILTON Lucas      109      3
MARTIN Guillaume      106      1
SOBRERO Matteo      100      0

Of course, an expensive pick who scores highish might not be a great pick, so Percentage return on investment
HAMILTON Lucas   311   3
DE GENDT Thomas   283   3
NOVAK Domen   200   0
HINDLEY Jai   186   7
LOPEZ PEREZ Juan Pedro   185   1
LEEMREIZE Gijs   125   1
ARCAS PEÑA Jorge   114   0
CHEREL Mikael   114   0
BUCHMANN Emanuel   111   5
BOUWMAN Koen   92   0
HIRT Jan   88   0
LANDA MEANA Mikel   88   27
KÄMNA Lennard   88   12
TONELLI Alessandro   85   1
HEPBURN Michael   85   2
NIBALI Vincenzo   83   3
BUITRAGO SANCHEZ Santiago   75   0
KLUGE Roger   75   0

Of course, the logical conclusion to the idea of value is that a cheaper rider and spare points in the budget can be a wiser pick than spending to the limit.  But if you had chosen 7 favourite riders to a total cost of 1948, would you have had the courage to pick Hindley over Carapaz and send in a team that had only cost 2311 points?
Impeccable picks are those who you could not have scored better than with a rider who cost more.
HINDLEY Jai
LOPEZ PEREZ Juan Pedro
KÄMNA Lennard
LEEMREIZE Gijs
HAMILTON Lucas
DE GENDT Thomas
HEPBURN Michael

As in the purple points classification, I won't repeat the whole table from yesterday, but the top ten with their 100+ scorers:
1      Josedin      1772   Carapaz/Demare/Landa/Carthy/Arensman
2      Search      1667   Carapaz/Landa/Carthy/Pozzovivo/Gaviria/Kamna
3      BluesInTheBottle      1645   Hindley/Carapaz/Ciccone/Kamna
4      Rote_Laterne      1613   Hindley/Landa/Buchman/Kamna/Yates
5      Northerner      1595   Hindley/Landa/Buchman/Arensman/Yates
6      Leadbelly      1581   Hindley/Landa/Ciccone/Kamna/Yates
7      Comodoro      1560   Hindley/Landa/Carthy/Gaviria/Yates
8      Vladimir      1549   Carapaz/Nibali/Buchmann/Ciccone/Arensman
9      AmisVelo      1461   Hindley/Landa/Ciccone/Yates
10      Manafana      1406   Hindley/Landa/Carthy/Yates

Best possible team
with all my usual qualifiers about this being based on a fairly limited numbers of tries, and that better combinations may be possible.
HINDLEY Jai
CARAPAZ MONTENEGRO Richard Antonio
LOPEZ PEREZ Juan Pedro
LANDA MEANA Mikel
HIRT Jan
NIBALI Vincenzo
BUCHMANN Emanuel
LEEMREIZE Gijs
at a cost of 3475 and earning 2885

Josedin's double winning team
CARAPAZ MONTENEGRO Richard Antonio
DEMARE Arnaud
LANDA MEANA Mikel
CARTHY Hugh
ARENSMAN Thymen
DE GENDT Thomas
BALLERINI Davide
HEPBURN Michael

Only Ballerini can be said to have been a real flop here.  Hepburn was not the best cheap Aussie makeweight he could have afforded (that would have been Hamilton), but at least he finished and even picked up a couple of stage points at the death.  I will admit to having thought that this team will go nowhere when I saw a big spend on Demare in a field that included Ewan, Cavendish, Gaviria and Girmay, but it is good to see a brave unique pick be rewarded (and also demonstrates the sort of insight that earned me 15th place).
If my Best Possible team is correct, this is 61.4% of what is possible: every time I do such a calculation the winner is in the low to mid sixties of what might have been done.

Hall of shame
Riders who were selected at a cost of 400 points or more, but who returned less than 10% of their cost, with the difference between their score and their price.
ALEOTTI Giovanni      -391      1
POELS Wout      -489      1
LOPEZ MORENO Miguel Angel      -507      20
DE LA CRUZ MELGAREJO David      -549      1
BARDET Romain      -877      5
ALMEIDA Joao Pedro Gonçalves      -1578      1

And finally, to give comfort to some, the Bad  luck table, sorted by number of non-finishers, then by the difference between what those non-finishers cost and the points they may have gained before withdrawal.
Laarsland      5      1342
ZigzagWanderer      4      2476
Del1962      4      2121
Rote_Laterne      4      2079
AmisVelo      4      2079
DJSprtsch      4      1554
Triley36      3      2219
Scrooll07      3      2219
SlowClimber      3      1954
JumboVismaFan      3      1954
Northerner      3      1761
Leadbelly      3      1761
Bonimenier      3      1702
EvansIsTheBest      3      1551
Bminchow      3      1487
Otoxiep87      3      1406
Mellow_Velo      2      1896
Manafana      2      1482
Will10      2      1447
Comodoro      2      1342
SafeBet      2      1342
Kazistuta      2      1254
Nyssinator      2      1254
ArchieBoy      2      1254
Armchair_Cyclist      2      1153
Yellow_Knight      2      926
Rufs      2      737
BluesInTheBottle      2      671
Salvarani      1      877
Titan31      1      721
RedheadDane      1      549
Berflamand      1      507
Vladimir      1      419
SamuCuenca      1      217
Search      1      164
Josedin      0      0
BicycleBoy      0      0
Collective_Wisdom      3      1761
which perhaps makes Rote Laterne's 4th place more commendable.

And even finalier, the standings after two rounds of the Four Seasons challenge (ie totals for those who contested both this and the Spring Classics game, Tour and Vuelta to follow).
1      Josedin      2847
2      Search      2769
3      Leadbelly      2757
4      AmisVelo      2661
5      Comodoro      2653
6      BluesInTheBottle      2588
7      Rufs      2499

13      Triley36      2305
14      Otoxiep87      2296
15      Armchair_Cyclist      2261
16      SlowClimber      2228

18      Del1962      2081
19      Salvarani      2001
20      Bminchow      1949

24      Scrooll07      1623
25      DJSprtsch      1320
26      RedheadDane      752
      Collective_Wisdom      2268

And remind me to tell you on around 23rd June that the Tour de France CQ Game should be 8 riders with a maximum budget of 4000 points as of 26th June, to be confirmed from a CQ update on the 27th, and that you'll need to submit teams by whatever time the first rider goes down the ramp in Copenhagen on 1st July.

Now, Emerging riders games...
