Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

Wiggo won't repeat this year, if he rides this he ought to keep his powder dry for Le Tour instead of going all-out.

Maybe one for Valverde? Depends a little on the course but he likes this race and I think shorter tours suit him better than GTs.

    [edit] Disregard that.

I had forgotten how much Wiggins had won by. He looked to be hanging on on the later climbs but in reality he had a bucket-load of time in hand.

This course seems set up for him again and I have a suspicion that he won't be a long way from peak form until after July at the earliest.

TT heavy route: rologue and a 53 km ITT. Wiggins will have a great chance to repeat.

Who knows, perhaps WonderWestra will return to challenge Wiggins once more? :D

What an uninspiring parcours. One summit finish (A cat 3), a couple of HC Climbs, and far too much time trialling.

Wiggins or Evans could win this without having to tailor their form too much. Will be great to see if the Schlecks ride it, but no, of course they will be riding Tour de Suisse again.

    Pretty Meh Parcours.

    Blimey, what a turd.
Should only appeal chrono fans. (Germans)
Nowehere near enough opportunity to re-dress the balance and attack the team trains.

Oh stop being so dour. OK, it's a bit light on the MTFs, but that Colombier-Joux Plane stage will be a cracker and will do for any Tony Martins who might be relying solely on the ITT to get the overall win.

Don't agree with their being heaps of TT, there's only a prologue + one stage but the course is a bit boring. Queen Stage isn't even an MTF

When was it the last time that the Dauphine wasn't designed like a TDF prep race?

I did think the Dauphine might be a bit much straight after the Giro.

Will be interesting to see what Phil does here ... should be riding in full support of Cadel - something he will have to get used to  :)

Last year Joaquin Rodriguez completely steamrolled the heavy mountain stages in the Dauphine after the Giro, granted that JRod was sick and only got into very nice form in the the 3rd week of the Giro instead of the 2nd it might be a challenge, but it certainly isnt impossible.

Is Matteo Carrara (Vaconsoleil) not going from the Giro straight to the Dauphine?

Something of a turn around from last year.
Unfortunately these parcour may be taken as rider preference for Tour warm up.
In the future we may get both the Dauphine and the ToS including no MTFs, few climbs of note and a stupidly long ITT.
Another move forward into the "brave new world", in which we all are forced become supporters of team management entities,
rather than people who like to watch proper bike racing.
Talking of which, in terms of overall WT team strength, I make the score about 11-7 in favour of the Dauphine.

It does seems strange no MTF´s

Somebody needs to shake up the way the stages are being designed

New Tour boss - would do the job, not that CP is going anywhere

Best TTer that can get over the Joux-Plane wins, I guess. Probably not T Martin.
