Even though it's nothing but a small appetiser for what's coming in the next weeks, this is often a pretty nice race on its own. Too bad the start list is limited without BMC, Liquigas and Cancellara.
Finding it hard to make a prediction here, but for some reason my gut says Leukemans will light up this race and perhaps even win it. Team Sky better be careful not to let the olympics ruin their season. if they come away with no gold for the road race they might look stupid. the track medals will all be seen as TeamGB medals but then again maybe they and their sponsors are not too worried about the road and want the bigger exposure the olympics gives. Also Kennaugh and Swift's season of testing themselves against their opponents on the road again is pretty much wasted.. A real shame because they were making good progress last year. Theres a lot of swapping going on, confirmed that Sky only go into Catalunya with 6 riders, Pate and Rogers both out. All this olympic thing is a bit much, Geraint spending most of his year track training, seriously, how long does it take to prepare for the track.
