Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

Well, hopefully after being present in P-N and T-A somewhat it should dispel some of the murmurings that they don't belong at WT level...

Nah those murmurings will never leave  :P

Tuart out of general interest, what would you see as a successful (WT)season for the 'Edge?

Good question.

IMHO:
Aussie Championship
Tour Down Under Stage
Tour Down Under Overall
Cobbled Classic Podium
Ardennes Classic Podium
Giro d'Italia Stage: 1 sprint, 1 breakaway
Tour de France Stage
Vuelta Espana Stage: 1 sprint, 1 breakaway
A total of 15-20 wins
Cycman: Sagan Greipel Brajkovic Breschel CA.Sorensen Porte Wegmann Sutton Zubeldia Fedrigo Lastras Roux Selig Morabito Dumoulin T.Meyer
CQ game-breakers: Boom Ciolek DeGendt Steegmans Bertagnolli Blythe Masciarelli Stetina Boeckmans Vaugrenard

Depends how you define success I suppose

15th on the UCI Sporting Value rankings at the end of the year?

More than the average number of wins in the year in comparison to other WT teams? (23 in 2011)

I don't really have any "ranking" myself as to how a team should be successful, for GE, to get something out of the classics, a stage in one of the GTs and to be competitive all year would be a good debut season...imo.

I think that they would consider it a successful season if they manage to win some decent stuff (like a GT stage or WT race) and attract a real naming sponsor to take over the short term position of Jayco.  If they start 2013 with a longer term budget and a bit more cash then I think that the pressure will be on that year for results rather than this one.... (I know that was slightly gibberish but I am tired)

yep totally agree Martin, I think they will have a longer term view than just this season ... or they should

being competitive in the classics, having a couple of GT stage wins, finishing high enough to guarantee not UCI issues and getting a long term sponsor would be a pretty good result for them for this season I would think.

They dont need to set the world on fire ...

What's going on with Allan Davis? I thought M-Sr was a race he was going to do, is he injured or just out of form and the 'edge have gone for a better option?

Not odd, it's what defines his career

White, Stephens and Bannan will not tolerate it though, you think that he'd be on a one year deal, and if he doesn't perform he's out. At some stage this season I expect him to get it together and have a very good 2-3 months.

Whitey just made some friends?

Since I last wrote you, we have notched our first European win with the team time trial victory in Tirreno-Adriatico and propelled Cameron Meyer to his first top-ten overall in a WorldTour stage race
