Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

I am betting on NOT GILBERT.

The race is as open as it has ever been this year. Gilbert sucks, Valverde has been sick. Andy might find some form but who knows.

yeah have no idea. Not convinced Andy will have found any form and not convinced Gerrans can keep going the way he has been.

hoping to see Uran do something

+1 on Uran. He seems to be in very good form this year and Sky needs to let him do his thing.

Of course Phil will win.  Phil is a god among men   :)

*********************************************

ok - now that is out of the way ... on to those who actually have a chance.  I actually think it will be a surprise winner this year.  Maybe a Rabo?  Those who are usually strongest are strangely out of form/sick/injured etc ...

Wonder how Jelle Vanendert is going

No really big favourite this year, which makes this race something to look forward to. I personally hope Nibali will be able to show something. His form has been fine so far this season, and he has shown he can be competitive in these races. Plus if he targets the Tour he can peak on the Ardennes rather than a few weeks later, during the Giro.

Evans, Schlecks (probably Frank more than Andy), Rodriguez, Cunego, Uran, Valverde, perhaps even Gerrans again... Plenty of riders who can win this.

Band of brothers.

Whilst the Screaming Eagles were good they weren't as awesome as the All-Americans.

Hard to see past a BMC rider, if they get their stuff together!

So no one else is placing as much stock in the interview where the Schlecks said they won't do Liege, as I am?
Despite the self-serving data benders and associated propaganda to the contrary, I am led to believe that there are pockets of organised, highly sophisticated dopers, even within 'new age' cycling teams. Personally, I don't accept that the 'dark era' has ended, it has just morphed into a new guise.

Neither of them is doing it? Wow. I guess it will be down to Spartacus and the Second Best Climber In The World to hold it down for the Shack.

the Second Best Climber In The World to hold it down for the Shack.

With the first one not there he should have a decent chance on the gruesome mountains of Southern Belgium.

I thought that was just Andy? Think Frank is still supposed to ride it, but perhaps I misunderstood.

Actually I just looked at more recent comments from Brunyeel and it seems Andy will race the Ardennes though Johann warns that he won't try to get any sort of a peak for it.

If Evans won this I would be so fricken happy but he has a cold atm and is not really targeting these classics. :(

Anyone able to assist with the best places to watch this?

We'll be in Liege for the start but aren't sure where is best to go along the route (and the best way to get there) and whether to go to Ans for the finish or back to Liege?

Anyone know if there will be a big screen or anything in Liege?

Thanks in advance.

The Haute-Levée (85km from the finish) near Stavelot on the south east side of Liège is a tough climb during the key section of the race.

It is also almost next to the fast A27 which always stays outside of the parcours. You can easily get to the finish from there if you're sharp.  :)
