just to confuse matter more, here is a report on Tour De Gironde from the drapac guys. Putting here as the rest of the race stuff is here

Quote
Stage 2 of the Tour de Gironde was a day out for Adam Phelan and Darren Lapthorne.

Both formed a breakaway of only 3 which was created after 60 kilometres and stayed away for over 100 kilometres. As a result they won nearly every sprint on the road with Darren opening his lead in the sprint classification to 14 points and Adam now holds the KOM jersey with a slim lead of 3 points.

Today is the final day stage from St-Pierre D'Aurillac to Villenave D'Ornon and 171.9 kilometres.

Reinardt just beaten in the bunch sprint, Rabos maintain their lead overall.
Two drapac riders got in an early break, but were caught when MTN tried to break things up in the crosswinds. That resulted in a lead group of 50 fighting out for the win, but depsite pulling things back together Reinardt was not able to finish things off.

Actually Reinardt won the sprint, but the last guy from the break survived with half a wheel...

Indeed the case, Pandele and Zahner, both in the breakaway, coming first and third, and sandwiching Reinardt.

Thanks for that, got lazy and gve up trying to get google translate to work on the ticker.

The mtn twitter has an annoying habit of going missing at the endof the race. Guess they get busy but often you end up wondering who won

Seems that nearly 50km have passed. Hope the team could curtail the breakaway and not let them stay away. It was 20" with 7km to go in stage 2.

1 minute gap for the breakaway.

Geert Van Der Weijst won stage 3.

Reinardt took the points classification, I'm imagining that he would've finished in the top 3 or so.

:win Tewelde takes the first stage for MTN  :win

http://www.qhubeka.org/2012/2012/05/mtn-qhubekas-jani-tewelde-wins-stage-1-of-tour-of-eritrea/

Mekseb Debesay (Red Sea Camels), what a great name for a team, came in second and Yemane Bereket (Eritrean National Team) was third ahead of MTN's Tesfay Habtemariam.

illustrating the joys of african cycling, Meron Russom finished 51 seconds back after having to ride on a old bike when his MTN bike failed to arrive at the race.

Well played Meron
Tewelde :win

Tewelde for the GC now.
Is this Debesay related, in any way, to Ferqalsi Debesay?

Photo history from Tour of Eritrea

Loving some of the photographs, Russom in his Eritrean strip in particular.

Stage 2 report

60km :o

Tewelde 25 minutes behind, that prediction went well. Russom's not even visible.

guess Russom may still be having bike issues

60 km that is south american style climbing, in massive heat as well. sounds like a nasty climb. is gutting that races like this get so little coverage. can only hope some video comes out as there has been highlights of other years

It's only 4%, just the 2400 metres altitude that would've been a difference there.
