The Professional Cycling Council (PCC) and UCI Management Committee met yesterday and today on the occasion of the UCI Road World Championships 2012 in the Limburg region.

For the last time since his nomination as President in 2001, Mr Vittorio Adorni presided the PCC meeting. Having reached the age of 74, in accordance with the statutes of the UCI, the 1968 World Champion will take his retirement. Congratulating Mr Adorni for his dedication in favour of cycling, UCI President Pat McQuaid proposed that he be appointed PCC Honorary President. This proposal was supported by the Council Members and ratified by the UCI Management Committee.

During the meeting, the PCC decided to create a working group to study the implications of hypothetically introducing a “salary cap” into team budgets, as well as training compensation fees. Further the PCC confirmed its determination to improve the quality of UCI WorldTour television production and race coverage.

In his opening speech of the Management Committee meeting, the UCI President, Mr Pat McQuaid reiterated the great success of all cycling events on the Olympic program: “The London Games were an extraordinary showcase for all disciplines of our sport, the absolutely exceptional visibility has undoubtedly contributed greatly to its worldwide promotion”.

The following World Championships were awarded by the UCI Management Committee:

Indoor Cycling 2014 : Brno (CZE)
MTB Marathon 2015 : Val Gardena (ITA)
Paracycling Road 2015 : Nottwil (SUI)
Road 2016 : Doha (QAT)

For the first time, the UCI World Championships will be organized in the Middle East. The UCI Sport and Technical Director, Mr Philippe Chevallier, expressed his satisfaction about the Management Committee decision: « The management of the Qatar candidature presented an extremely interesting project which incorporated  innovative solutions which allowed for the designing of a technically interesting course , we are greatly looking forward to working with them».

In  2013 the UCI BMX World Championships will take place in Auckland (NZL) from 24 au 28 July and the UCI Juniors Track World Championships will take place in Glasgow on 7 to 11 August.

The UWCT Finals will be held in 2013 in Trento (ITA) and in 2014 in Ljubljana (SLO).

Concerning the UCI Road World Championships 2014, the Management Committee decided to grant the organizers of the Ponferrada (ESP) event 30 days to  meet contractual commitments, after which time if these had not been met the event would be withdrawn from them.

The UCI Management Committee also approved the 2013 Road Calendar which will be available tomorrow on the website www.uci.ch

Fuglsang is young and naive. Should have kept his mouth shut raced as many WT to get points to get a better deal elsewhere. Anyone with half a brain can see that RSNT has no future in cycling. What Sponsor is gonna want JB to be a DS/owner of a team after the details of USADA come out?

Hope he learnt his lesson. I hope others have also learnt from his mistake. Not happy at a team the last people you tell is the media. Tell them when you are in a new team in the new seaon racing ;)

I guess it's because he's not a star, although he should have kept quiet raced some WT events and gained some points for himself and new team. Shouldn't most have Saxo been suspended in 2010 when the Schlecks were forming their own team.

But Fugslang brought this upon himself. It's not cycling specific is this reprimanding by keeping them away from the matches/races. It's par for the course for a half arsed twat in a big football club, and it happened with a huge star like KP and Hampshire, when Pietersen was a twat and available for selection.

He could've been less of a whinging sook and go through the motions for the season if he wanted races and a shiny new saxo bank.
