Well that's just dodgy. Sure, if they did it in the tracks, it's understandable. I'm sure Cricket Australia also breeds a lot of players at a young age from the centre of excellence, and I haven't seen a conflict of interest wrt states as such so far.

As long as it's not detrimental to the riders, not looking like that though.

You mean the same as in jayco being the 'national' team?

That was part of the deal, it was a partnership. In general it's a good idea.

Basically CA wanted to look after state institute riders who did not get into the u23 AIS team as they usually flounder aruond back in Australia without many races.

so they partnered up with Draydon's team, which as the virgin blue team, was successful and well run.

There were a number of good riders told not to join teams like genesys, drapac, budget etc, because it would be better for them to remain under the CA banner. Dont bite the hand that feeds. Etc. But in general Draydon seems to run a good team.

But I think the 'certainty' as to securing more sponsorship and keeping the team afloat for the whole year was not as 'certain' as many were told it was.

Looking back, wasn't it the same in races like Singkarak? Remember Mitch Lovelock Fay there, can't remember all others.

Jayco U23 are not riding because they have no money.

Ned Draydon the guy running the team (who ran the domestic fly v team) only had a budget for 3 months but promised everyone that he could wing more sponsors once the team got up and rolling.

Well, no more money. so no more races.

they will put a positive spin on it because they can moonlight as 'australian national team' so CA has made sure that they get an invite to the tour of china. Except the riders have to pay.

Why are Jayco U23 not riding next week? And Suzuka is a one day race, I think.

I have never been a massive fan of these stage crit / road races but never even considered the impact on the riders (bet you are glad to see your comfort is high on our agenda). especially when we are talking about teams that do not have luxury coaches with showers and massage tables.

frankly i find the races too confusing, too many bonus sprints, too many time bonuses. I guess it is to make people race the crits but i want to see a guy attack on a hill and gain time, or at least win a full on bunch sprint after 150 k's not cross the finish line 8 times in one race and get the lead.

i am obviously too old school for these Aussie races

Here you go guys, my thoughts on double stage races
http://jonathanlovelock.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/everyone-hates-double-stages.html

No South Coast

I'm just not good enough at crits basically and these races are coming down mostly to intermediate sprints in the crits. Brenton Jones will be a seriously good addition in that regard. Also we keep the squad rotating and I've done all the NRS races so far..

But if someone gets sick or injured I'll be there!

Jono- Any reason you're not racing the south coast tour? Rest or something on the programme?

And I wonder if he'll buy himself that Porsche. The Benny Hill show finished second and Pat Shaw third.

Genesys building up an impressive number of near misses.

Davison won stage nine ahead of McNally and Giacoppo.

Davison and Giacoppo look out of the running, a break of 17 are more than a minute away from the bunch in stage 8.

Did Davison win stage 5? Seems to have closed right in to Giacoppo.
