Aye, makes sense, cost wise too.
We don't book the flights...

Similar times zone. Same weather (as SE Aus. or close enough)

Two days is normally good. Otherwise you are stuck in this horrible purgatory of being at the race hotel, bored out of your skull, overeating at the buffet, doing poo all.

Especially with a day off after the first day of racing.
Sounds like my perfect holiday ;D Fair to say that I'm nowhere near in a physical condition to play sport professionally.

Who from your lot at Genesys should we expect to see the best time from in the prologue? My memory's pooe and I couldn't remember what happened yesterday, today.

Mind, I can't understand a poo of what's being said, but that's almost always the case, English, Chinese or Afrikaans.

if you really want some fun, find the tour down under videos with phil and paul commentating, and put the captions on them. makes far less sense than the japanese translation.

Wowzers, will have to check it out. Low interest rate policy makes perfect sense in this economy, more so in Japan.

If you want to find the mass start up Fuji it is starts about 10:30 minutes into 3rd video.

Watched it yesterday, it finally started after a few uncomfortable minutes of seeing males in their chuddies and placing something dodgily under the arse too.

Thanks for that. I had a look with the transcribed and translated audio. Here are Salerno's comments after the race:

"But I think that many people who dare lateness - 8 Ogouchi - morning. So is you? My 8 at 38 roadside value is a grounder in short-term prospects. 8 minutes and 9 in an agency assigned landesk: $1112 yen! For the first time in years, racer laser!"

He's rewriting the currency market too. $1112 yen, he's clearly a special talent. Make him the Japanese minister of finance.

I'm debating if I'll visit Stage 4.  Its a bit of a hike from Tokyo and due to the nature of the stage you only really get to see the start of the finish as there is only one road up Mt Fuji so you can't watch the start then take an alternative route to the finish and arrive before the riders.

I've done that climb in the past .. for fun (?) I'd hate to have to race it!

I will be at the final stage in Tokyo on Sunday, however.  We weren't able to secure a press pass on short notice but myself and Gavin will be hovering about seeing if we can record interviews for The Pedal Asia Podcast (http://www.pedalasia.com/)

If an board members will be at the race on Sunday drop us a line pedalasiapodcast@gmail.com

Didn't realise that, the only road issue. One question I do have is, how is the telly coverage for the event? It's a bit difficult to understand the partners for a non Japanese person.

Have a good one at the race, whichever stages you'll be at.

i theory Fuji sounds brilliant, especially as it is so unique a stage but if you cannot sit half way up the climb and watch them come past then is not really worth it.

also will be lacking in atmosphere, not like you get to sit around for a couple of hours waiting for the race to reach you.
