TOUR OF THE GREAT SOUTH COAST | 15 AUG - 19 AUG
« on: August 14, 2012, 13:32 »
A vast array of towns and communities will be treated to top-class cycling when the inaugural Tour of the Great South Coast sweeps Western Victoria.

The five-day, nine-stage tour will be held for the first time from August 15-19, making up the second leg of the 2012 SCODY Cup Series.

The 614km course stretches from popular fishing spot Nelson, which is near the Victorian-South Australian border, to as far as Port Campbell, situated on the Great Ocean Road and just kilometres away from the world-famous 12 Apostles.

Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

Pure black listed again, saw that a couple of days ago too, but them participating isn't really confirmed. It'd be brilliant, but I'm not too optimistic.

The rankings are dodgy, Moobrien has been sensational all year but gets beaten in a flat crit race and is bumped down to second? Nope, can't follow the logic there.

Oh yeah, Jono was mentioning this in the Gippsland thread, and there's a notable absence in the teams, Jayco U23s. Got some fine prospects in their lot, just a shame.

Thanks for the updates Dave. i did notice however that AJ is not the leader of the race by 6 seconds over Jones. i assume this is because he won some of the 73 intermediate sprints that occurred during the stage. they get bonuses so often it is just glorified half wheeling

About 45 riders within 11 seconds of lead, another 20 or so spread out but under a minute then about 70 more all a long way down, including Jono (who i thought was not riding) at nearly 3 minutes and some at over 14 minutes

Getting messy, big crash at 3kms to go has ruled a large chunk of the bunch out of the final sprint

Budget Forklifts match the Genesys effort from the morning with their own 1 -2

Davidson takes the win from MacAnally but AJ (Giacoppo, i do not write AJ cause we are buddies or anything just because i can never remember how to spell his name) holds on to the race lead.

yeah not seen any details but Lots of crashes. although strangely he was 6th on crit stage so may have avoided most of it, or just finished a bit beaten up and could not go on in the afternoon

Edit, looking at earlier tweets he was going well in morning race and photos of him before stage 2 he looks fine. so unless he crashed at start of stage 2 which has not been mentioned he must have started to get ill

Apparently Walker had an episode of tachycardia. seems to be overly fast or irregular heart rate.

they have said it was a mild episode but was enough for him to be going to hospital and having more tests today.

some other people took some sprints. Shaw got another one, so with about 10 seconds in the bag he may move up the overall a few places.

6 guys off the front but not sure i am going to make it to the end as have a plane to catch

plane from Portugal that is, not NZ. just in case Ram is listening

Shaws bid to move up the GC is thwarted by everyone in the field also getting bonus seconds in the intermediate sprints. i think even i have got a few. 3 laps to go in the race. not that it matters as it seems you get the same bonus for winning stage as for winning one of 10 intermediate sprints.
