They've got a fair decent winter of transfers for a team that didn't race much last year in the UCIs.

Post Merge: January 02, 2013, 05:03
Huh, missed this ten days ago

Surprise de cette fin d'année, 2 dernières recrues pour le Team LPM: Rob Bush et Josh Berry, tous 2 américains... L'effectif est plus que renforcé!

Surprising end to the year with two new American recruits, Bush and Berry, methinks. Announced on the 20th of December. There's one that benefited from Chipotle's folding.

Gone are former national champions, Ian McLeod and Darren Lill. Gone too is 2012 Durban Amashova winner, Johann Rabie. Also gone is 2011 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour champion, Tyler Day. In their place are Clint Hendricks, Pieter Seyffert, Christopher Jennings and Willie Smit.

“Seyffert is one of a handful of South African riders that won a race in 2012 but who wasn’t a member of Team Bonitas or MTN Qhubeka, the two dominant teams of this year. His stage win at the Jock Tour showed he’s a thinking rider. He’s a strong time triallist too, which is always a bonus to have on any team,” said Austin.

Another relatively new rider on the team is former national road champion, Christoff van Heerden. He joined the team on a part-time basis in September 2012 but will be full-time for 2013.

Riders staying on from the 2012 squad are climber, Jason Bakke, sprinter, Herman Fouche and allrounders, Hanco Kachelhoffer, Luthando Kaka and HB Kruger. Kachelhoffer has been promoted to team captain.

“Team Bonitas has established a partnership with French team La Pomme Marseille that will kick off in 2013. This gives us a three-level system for our riders,” explained Austin. “The first level is South African racing, the second level is the French First Division with La Pomme Club and the third level is the Continental team calendar in Europe with La Pomme Marseille’s pro team, which, like Bonitas is also a registered Continental team with the UCI.”

They becoming a small French continental team's feeder club? And they've lost all their top riders of this year.

I had a dream that Pierre-Henri Lecuisinier had signed a precontract agreement with Sky, and this info was listed on cqranking.com

Very unlikely but also very specific, but goes to show I am thinking a lot about young riders and cqranking at the moment!
And Sky  :P

Raleigh pay from £3000 p/a to £32,000 p/a. Very good money (for the top boys) for a Conti team that rarely races outside the UK.

It's hugely variable...

Some teams it would be you pay everything on your own.. other teams it could be you get $20,000 a year and no costs.

I reckon standard would be bike and race days covered.

Post Merge: December 30, 2012, 10:51
But even then at Pro Conti level there is the deal of 'minimum' wage but then you have to pay your own flights or accomodation blah blah. Basically just a way of changing the cashflow within the team so that riders look like they are getting paid more so the team can qualify as pro conti and get better starts...

Conti with most teams is basically a bike and race days?

Continental Pros have a minimum salary right.

Nope.

WorldTour and Pro-Conti

Conti contracts are worth as much as the paper they're written on really..

Back in Europe? He barely raced outside Europe this season.

sorry dumb expression

was meaning in the higher levels where as a age group rider b4 heading to UHC he got smashed .

ie him riding against the riders who made it to WT status out of his year groups

But now racing for a European team.. :)

He was very impressive in TOB and he certainly has some talent so looking forward to see him in some smaller races this year.

  8)  as you can see from his Palmares this season a contract is definitely deserving.

Love to do my take on the full US Domestic Roster but haven't the time right now.  Some points:

-- Mitchell Hoke (Opt- KB)  also signed w/ Felt for Mtn http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/kenda-felt-mountain-bike-team-announced?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Yes, he's 24 and valueable given that (next pt) but two teams and two contracts.  Continental Pros have a minimum salary right.
Many riders race various types of races but typically w/ main sponsor or a guest rider.

-- Continental teams must have half there riders under 28 (maybe 28 n under).  But with Devo teams stealing many of the best U23s, some Pro signings look incredibly weak.  That said most squads (12 riders)  use a core group for main races and others freelance locally or do crits.

--Bobby Lea back in the pro peleton for the first time since UNITED/TOYOTA????

-- Some decent teams aren't Pro too ie. Cashbell & Elbowz too.

-- Optum Health has 19 riders!n & brought Cheyne Hoag back?

-- Hincapie BMC ditched practically all their homegrown SC riders including Tyler Karnes and Matthew Lipscomb (both w/ decent results in 2012 U23 RR).  They still have some SE US flavor but like Chipolte last yr they added atleast three 23 yr olds and one 25 yro Zawacki.

-- Will Hincapie Team get big Tour bids?

-- Where is Haedo?
