Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

Vincenzo Nibali will suit up for training Pro Team Astana next season ( already known info ). The Alpine racer is not the only one to jump ship training Liquigas Cannondale for the Kazakh team. Indeed, Valerio Agnoli and Alessandro Vanotti are the same road, three for two years.

As long as they have their hideous shorts and sh*t like helmets, losing them won't be a loss.

HTF did Hinault get a team and Schnaidt still be in Specialised concept as of now?

Concerning Astana is it already known whether Kreuziger is really moving away from the team, or is this still an unconfirmed rumour?

I would think so as well and Kreuziger seems the most likely candidate, seeing as he appears quite unhappy with the team.

Also be interesting to see who the desperate teams look to sign, the Asian points haven't been so dominated by a tabriz like team in recent times due to their

So Nibali is definitely going to Astana.. Still not entirely sure how I feel about that, but Nibali riding the Giro with support from guys like Kiserlovski, Kessiakoff and Seeldraeyers and with Vino as a DS, that's a pretty exciting prospect :P At least at Astana Nibali should have a lot of freedom to ride (and attack) where he wants and light up some races.
I'm half hoping Astana will sign Cancellara as well. My two favourite riders united on the same team, that would be great for me. Not that it's very likely to happen, but one can dream.

Appollonio and Betancur are two very interesting signings for AG2R. I must say I'm pretty surprised by both, but not in a bad way. Especially Betancur should make the team a lot more exciting, so good news there.

There was talk of quite a few going to Astana, so will be interesting to see who actually goes there.

Lots of talk of Andy Schleck to Astana, but I simply for the life of me cannot see Andy riding for Vino   ;D

Cancellara - I think him to Saxo is pretty much a done deal.  And they are a pretty good fit for him.  I am looking forward to seeing him have a bit of decent support (hopefully) at the classics, and then NOT having to tow people around France.  Will be great.

Nibbles (and helpers) to Astana is great.  He has had a great season, and I hope that he settles in well there.

Thinking about the others on RSNT there is still quite a few decent riders to find a new team.  I hope that Greenedge decides to go after a decent half chance GC rider in this lot

Why wouldn't Fabian be towing people around in France? It's not like he'll get a free role in the Tour with Contador in the team. He'll either have to work for Contador, or skip the Tour altogether. Remember this is Riis we're talking about: it's all about the GC victory for him, stages and attacks are unimportant for him.
I wouldn't mind seeing Fabian return to Saxo, even if he would have to ride for Contador. Just as long as he doesn't go to BMC or Sky I'm okay with anything.

he will get somewhat of a free role.  He wont have to save his energy to help AC ... so will get to have a go at a finish if it suits him and it all pans out.

Or he will be free to skip the Tour if he wants - something he has never been free to do in the past.

Surely Riis won't be adventurous enough to try that. It was a pretty mundane finish that cost Contador a lot last year.

last year though he had no team at all.

The few decent riders they did have had all done the Giro and were completely shattered before the start.   They made a conscious decision not to try and be at the front.

Would be different with different circumstances I think.

We've seen multiple times that Riis isn't the guy to give attackers in his team freedom as long as he has a shot at the GC. So if Cancellara signs for Contador, I fully expect him to resume his usual programme: riding the classics as team leader, and then supporting a GC guy (in this case Contador) at the Tour. He'll probably be more than happy with that too, as it's what he has done for years now and he never let anything slip about a desire to ride for himself at the Tour (expect for the occasional punchy finish).

It would be great to have Cancellara go into breaks and do late attacks again, but it's unlikely imo. Few teams could afford him, and of those that can most will have clear GC contenders for him to work for: Sky, BMC and Saxo. Astana, Katusha and perhaps GreenEdge should be the only teams able to afford Cancellara where he could get any freedom at the Tour (ignoring OPQS which could afford him but won't sign him since they have Boonen). But since Cancellara isn't an adventurous guy in his choice of teams, I expect him to sign for Saxo and ride for Contador there, or perhaps at BMC though I would hate that.
