nah, not world tour..

Think the olympics will screw up gb's words squad.. Wiggins, Cavendish and Thomas have picked up points, but Kennaugh and Swift done nothing and not likely to unless they ride Poland and Eneco.

No, he didn't race, broken Collarbone apparently, possibly at the Lincoln GP.

According to the Endura website, he's only raced 4 days since pulling out of the Coppi e Bartali in mid March. He's not down to race again until Route du Sud - la Dépêche du Midi from the 14th June.

Got to be in it to win it, as annoying people tend to say. Even so, we need to get bodies on the startline to get the experience even if victory this year is unlikely.

Nice win for Russel, doesn't JTL's points in the Euro tour standings count toward Worlds qualification?

Points in the Continental Tours count inasmuch as countries not qualified via the WorldTour can obtain up to 6 starters via the relevant Continental Tour. If Britain is high up (1-7 or so) in the Europe Tour nations ranking in mid-August (after taking out the countries already qualified via a top-10 in the WorldTour), they will qualify 6 riders for the Worlds. Additional riders could be spread if small countries with few riders are in the WorldTour top-10 (you only get as many places from there as you have ranked riders).

Sounds confusing? It is.
In short, Britain should get 6 starters for the Worlds courtesy of Endura winning all those points. If Cavendish wins a whole lot of stages and Wiggins does well in the Tour, Britain may even be in the WorldTour top-10 at the deadline for Worlds qualification... However, it's far from certain that there will be 9 British riders with WorldTour points at that time, in which you would only get the number of riders ranked.

Yeh, at the moment we have 3 riders with world tour points, so would go in with the very bare minimum. To be honest this year I dont think GB will be concerned. Last year they needed to build as much of a train as they could, this year realistically they only have a handful of riders who could do well at the worlds, Wiggins, Stannard, Thomas, Millar, maybe Hunt and Tiernen Locke as extras.

Likely the 6 will look something like Stannard, Thomas, Millar, Hunt, Cummings, Kennaugh. Cant see much beyond that. Wiggins will do the TT and the TTT. They may even leave Thomas out of the RR and put Swift or someone in if the TTT is a focus for Sky.

I'd have liked a little more coverage on this race - luckily the Norwegian cycling sites are pretty comprehensive but coverage on English language sites has been really weak.

Really chuffed for Russ Downing bagging a stage win.

yeah i have had to make do with twitter updates during stages.

it is amazing to compare the reports / information available in english between this, tour of japan and An Post Ras
