Sorry, over-tired error, I meant Greipel. I think you under estimate his sprint ablity, is he can win from a large peloton, why not a smaller group?

no probs.

If its a small group it will have meant some hard and fast climbing and not sure Greipel will be up there, but i suppose if Cav can do it why not Greipel?

If the sprinters want it, they'll take it I think. Look at last year, selection was made with mostly Classics riders and still a sprinter managed to win it.

They also have the Matthew Hayman card to play, don't they? Awful teeth but a great rider.

Not on topic, but saw his picture on the team sky website for Tour of Oman and really did look like Cavs dimwitted country brother

on positive note, he is a great team rider and was really happy when he did not join GreenEdge last year

In general QuickStep have started the year with a bang and really fancy them to have a good classics season
Garmin too.

Losers - BMC - only because with the squad and expectation there is if they do not win everything they will have lost  :D. mind you they could win everything.

would love to see the Team Sky Colombians have a good run but in general not feeling that confident about Sky this year for some reason

I really fancy Chavanel for one of the monuments after how hard he rode last year.

Boonen is also seeming in excellent form. maybe RVV.

I'm riding the Boonen bow wave. I predict he will have a good turnaround from the last couple years.

Bensons piece on the opening weekend

10 conclusions from the Omloop and Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne

imo well written and spot on

Greenedge need a monument win to get out of the spring ok
Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

Very true, but as Benson says, their best hope is Goss at MSR and at the moment, he seems really out of form - certainly in comparison to Greipel and Cav.  There's always the possibility that  Gerrans could do something in the Ardennes as well though...

Touches on a lot of my thinking too. This time last year, Philbert had already shown himself at Algarve, but so far in 2012 he's keeping it low key. He'll probably pick up a big one. Apart from that...

  • Pozzato to do nothing significant
  • MSR to not be a Cavendish vs. Greipel tug of war (I hope for another split like 2011)
  • OHN to have an unexpected winner
  • Van Avermaet to win a minor classic like Dwars door Vlaanderen
  • Valverde to win LBL
  • Gent-Wevelgem to not be a bunch sprint
  • Euskaltel to discover Tiernan-Locke's obscure Basque ancestry

Yay, I called it! Um, well, ok I had a 50:50 chance, I suppose.  ;D

The BMC club better hope they better roll up their socks now or they might get caught pants down.
