Liked the new route

pity Fabian was not there

Sep road a little to hard too early

Boonen was always going to win from that group

Boonen
Pippo
Ballan
GVA
Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

Cue Cancellara sook from hospital saying he'd have won by an hour and fifteen minutes. Bad luck for him nonetheless.

Top race by Pozzato. Good sprint by Boonen.

Too bad we didn't get the Boonen v Cancellara match, but it was good to see one of the two strong men win.

Nice win by Boonen, although probably not as easy as he'd have liked it to been.

What Cancellara would've slowed down to let it be so close?

Well done Boonen, great rider and deserved winner.
Pozzato very strong, back to his best.
Ballan always up there, if he could sprint he would be one of the greats, but without a sprint he was never going to win.

Crashes to Cancellara and Langeveld the low points. Hope neither is too badly injured.

Great race Tommeke !!!

well done.
No, it was a pretty dull win. His one and only attack was his sprint. But nobody should have expected Boonen to do anything else. Here is top 10
Cycman: Sagan Greipel Brajkovic Breschel CA.Sorensen Porte Wegmann Sutton Zubeldia Fedrigo Lastras Roux Selig Morabito Dumoulin T.Meyer
CQ game-breakers: Boom Ciolek DeGendt Steegmans Bertagnolli Blythe Masciarelli Stetina Boeckmans Vaugrenard

Hope Boonen gives half his winning to Pozzato to thank him for allowing him to w****s*** his way to the lead whilst Pippo did all the work bridging to Ballan.

Sagan, yes wait a couple of years and he will be winning these types of races regularly, Degenkolb might get some off of him though.

Well I guess Thor has next sunday to redeem himself, and it's a little easier without Canc.

He'd have slowed the peloton down and attacked to gain a four hour lead and he'd slow right down after that.

To get 3rd and 4th just sucks, you know so close yet so far. Not a diss on BMC and their effort today, just sucks to end up with 3rd and 4th.

4th in MSR, 5th in RvV so far. Is Sagan good or what.

All this talk of Boonen in PR, pah. It's Pozzato to win, by far.

Translation of Boonen's interview:

Quote
I was afraid for a bit, to do the finale with those two. Something was wrong with my bike and I wanted to change, especially on the big ring. And those Italians, they know each other well and we’re from the same generation so we all know each other. But the wind, the wind was my friend. No one could go away. And I fought I fought all the way to the finish line, and I don’t think I had much left, but enough. To win four in a row, that would be something. That would be… something. But I’m feeling good, and PR is my favourite race so I’ll definitely try. I didn’t see what happened to Cance, but we controlled the race all day and we just kept n doing that. His crash is bad but that’s the race. He’s definitely had a sh*t week.

Didn't like the new route. You might as well pick two hills and go up and down them all day.

Didn't think much of Pozatto's sprint either, not sure it was the right tactic and why did he wait for Boonen to start his?

Congrats to Boonen, he was almost out of it on the last climb but did enough to hang on and set himself up for the win.

Congrats to Ballan too, difficult when the other two are only interested in bringing it back for a sprint.

3rd and 4th would be a good result for most teams but with so many big names it seems a bit lacking.
Gilbert being very much below his best is hurting BMC badly.
Ballan is too good a rider to be allowed to get away solo, not quite strong enough to get away solo and does not have a sprint so the likelihood of him winning a big race again is very slim, probably will get a few more monument top 10s though, may P-R next week
