why? are they not taking it seriously or riders sick?

erm Dowsett, Barry, Flecha injured, Knees ill, Thomas and a couple of others doing Olympic training. So riders had to move across to the classics squad. Combination of 27 man squad, Olympics and accidents hurting them.

Never should have gone into 2012 with only 27 riders when they were planning letting the likes of Thomas and Swift have half the season off. Renewing Carlstrom, Downing for a further year might have made sense.

Is Geraint still penned in to ride the Giro? It's a mighty waste of time for his Olympic goals.

Moral boost needed for Team Sky one thinks.

A lot of this will depend on the weather too I think. If it's too hostile you might see some of the bigger favourites gun it back.

Can they not sign anybody during the season or is their block on when signings can happen?

I never would have thought that Greenedge could get 4 wins up this early in the season without Goss having any.

Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

Oh oh oh what do I win?

GE will win 4 monument classics and 2GTs this year. It's happening, we will have to bow down to their almighty strength.

Will I bollocs, even a dead cat could do better than our sad lot. Then again, a handicapped hamster could sprint faster than Allan Davis.

The Vancans squad -

Tomasz Marczynski
Thomas de Gendt
Stefan Denifl
Rob Ruijgh
Matteo Carrara
Martijn Keizer
Kenny van Hummel
Jacek Morajko

I'd expect Rob Ruijgh to have his nose near the front on the pretty impressive looking queens stage. Kamikaze Kenny already showed his face today. :)

Well done Albasini, he is a rider who wins things every year.
A bit of a surprise he won this stage, but I expected him to win something this year, probably pick up a couple more wins as well.

;D

Predictions for today's stage?  I looked at the profile and thought the final climb and descent looked crazy, but then realised that it is only 480m high.  Still, a chance for someone to take a flyer?  Movistar to TTT down the hill like they did at P-N?
