Energiewacht Tour 2013 3rd-7th of April
« on: April 02, 2013, 14:42 »
Like typical Dutch racing, the six stages over five days of racing will feature pan flat roads characterized by ubiquitous wind and cobbles. Each day the peloton will display a fierce style of racing that requires polished skill, steely resolve and unrelenting persistence. Last year’s tour wasn’t decided until the final stage when Specialized-lululemon won the team time trial (TTT) that nudged Ina Yoko-Teutenberg onto the top step over Marianne Vos (Rabo Women).

Stage: 1 - 3 April : Oldambt - Winschoten, 107.00 km

Preview Winschoten Winschoten-
For the third consecutive year, the platoon Oldambt to the municipality. The second city of Groningen will not be missed on the poster. The stage of last year around the Oldambtmeer yielded beautiful pictures. This year the pass rijdsters water three times, but start and finish will take place in the center of Winschoten. After the departure of the Pink City makes the pack a nice ride through the town. The trail builders have an 8-form devised by the municipality. Whether the riders enjoy the village centers of Beerta, Nieuwbeerta and Old Side is the question, because between these places, they will have to fight against the elements. The wind is in the open area play an important role. The journey of Winschoten to Bad Nieuweschans and back again, each round, three in total, are spicier. The final winner of last year, Ina Yoko Teutenberg, has fond memories of Oldambt. She won in 2012 both the sprint in the stage around Bad Nieuweschans as the mass sprint in the streets of Nieuwwolda.

Stage: 2 - 4 April : Pekela - Veendam, 105.00 km

Quote
Preview Pekela-Veendam
In 2012 was Pekela finish of the team time trial in the Energy Guard Tour. The teams then sailed from Veendam. This time was chosen for a reverse route in a regular stage. Many students and recreational cycling in the region, the route and know that you almost always have wind. During the local loop by Pekela platoon will meet with the elongated ribbon village along the waters of the Brine A. The riders pass include the former straw factories. After three rounds, the price will erupt in the road towards Veendam. The open field between Pekela and Veendam offers opportunities for escapees. Possible adventurers will be in sight of the peloton and continue to hide most of the houses in Zuidwending and Ommelanderwijk. In Veendam wait a local tour of the center that the riders have to travel four times. The line is drawn in the busiest shopping Veendam at the level of the town. If the suit is complete again than it is for sprinters a wonderful place hands in the air may stabbing.

Stage: 3a - 5 April : Winsum ITT, 21.00 km

Quote
Preview Winsum-Winsum (TT)
Winsum presents itself this year as cycling community. The beautiful roads and countryside in the town lends visibility also great for recreational and professional cycling. On 19 June, the town hosts the National Championship, and after a magnificent stage last year, the Energi Guard Tour this year Winsum for an individual time trial over 21 kilometers. Of course, this day is an excellent preparation for the Nationals on a virtually identical course will be held. Besides a nice dress for Dutch specialists will also ranking rijdsters burned on a top time. At the end of the morning it will be strong favorites list wilted. The famous arch bridge in the center of Winsum will again play a prominent role in the stage.

Stage: 3b - 5 April : Appingedam, 77.00 km

Quote
Preview Appingedam Appingedam
In Groningen cycling fans is a great circle on the calendar around these days. It is the day topkoers in the province. After the morning time trial moves the caravan itself to Appingedam for a local tour of the old center of the Fivelstad. The largest cycling talents of the world begin their three-day match in the afternoon. As dusk falls on Appingedam will the elite riders the lighted trail along the Damsterdiep finishing. The lance straight route to and from Garrelsweer seems selective enough to be an exciting stage of it. However, it is a mass spurt not be ruled out.

Stage: 4 - 6 April : Eemsmond - Uithuizen, 134.00 km

Quote
Preview Uithuizen-Uithuizen
The municipality of Eemsmond is hosting the expected queen stage in the round of this year. The riders get over 134 km for the choosing. Height is hardly in the northern part of the Netherlands, but the stage is certainly not to be underestimated. The forecast for today will team managers and riders to be monitored. The roads between the beautiful villages are flat and open, the chance is big fans. How big the group is ultimately for the day victory will compete in Uithuizen is very questionable. The first riders will also be the main candidates for final victory in the Energy Guard Tour. The juniors will after their second day a clear picture of what they stand for.

Stage: 5 - 7 April : Groningen, 99.00 km

Quote
Preview Groningen Haren Groningen
Where the Tour ends on the Champs-Élysées , the last stage in the Vuelta Madrid visiting, and the Giro tradition in the streets of Milan finishes, also knows the Energy Guard Tour this year lock in style. Province Capital Groningen is the scene of the grand finale. On the measurement of the victory square are the prizes. Also returns the rounded back to Hair. The cycling minded village was already in 2011 the scene of the apotheosis of the stage race. Marianne Vos went then to profit off. Haren Groningen and next year's race for runners four miles another sporting event managed to snare.

That lorry incident [6.50] in the highlight vid was diabolical. Thank goodness no one was injured.
Not the best organised stage of racing, 4 on route restarts. Ok level crossing incidents happen, and swing bridges left open possibly a reason for that, but directing riders of route, thats bad and then the lorry incident on an OPEN road.. Sort it Organisers , sort it.
The only bright note was Dani & Laura making it in the 10sec group aloong with Lizzie and Katie.
Lets hope todays stage goes safley

Nice to see Visser placing on a GC. Unusual, but nice. Her kind of race though.

Wild terrified me at Qatar and though many of her rivals have caught up since then, she will plainly still be a formidable force as the season rolls on. Probably too heavy for the Ardennes and the Worlds but should do well in stage racing.

A former trackie, Van Dijk is a fast TTer and rouleur and she was bound to show herself here. She's having a very solid season so far and should continue to feature as the year progresses.
