Fignon - In my day, doping methods were derisory and the riders´exploits were massive.
For the last 15 years or so  it has been the other way rond: there is a huge number of ways in which riders can dope, and any exploits are derisory.

    schedule

I've downloaded mine, seeing as I'm now going to be in front of the tv, instead of on the finish line. :(

Live timings can be opened here, for all events:
    http://www.tissottiming.com/

Click on live timing 1etc and open with Java or whatever. Quite safe.

Wendy H's words are ringing slightly hollow, as GB qualify behind Canada, but make the final at the expense of Oz.

Not so much velodrome news, more a question...

Watching the track world cup over the weekend, I was struck by how the sprinters invariably sprint sitting down, rather than getting out of the saddle (although they do get out of the saddle for the initial acceleration).  Does this give more power?  Why is velodrome sprinting technique so different to that on the road?

And also, have the UCI given any reasons why have the world cup leaders have had to wear those terrible grey jerseys rather than the white with red and blue stripes that world cup leaders normally wear?

Yeh, here I was thinking it might actually contain some news we didn't already know, or a decent analysis of the situation, who should be picked and why.

Australian National Junior track championships coming to an end today. Travis Smedley and Courtney Field (Victoria) have had decent nationals. Smedley won the Time Trial (500m) in the U17 age group, the individual sprint gold and was also part of the winning NSW team sprint. Courtney Field won the women's TT in the U17 group and the Individual sprint.

Think he's got a point.  For an organisation that  are so 'good' on marginal gains etc. it seems odds that they didn't insist that the test event be exclusively for British riders.

Really good documentary on Vicky P.  Covers her 'journey' from 2003 through to the present day.  Lots on her relationship with British Cycling - who I think come across as complete control freaks, particularly regarding her personal life, and her rivalry with Meares.  Oh, and lots of tears.  8)

Indeed I find her a very unstable figure and one who has quite a big mouth even though originally she doesnt come across that way.

In terms of he medal chances it is obvious that Meares is slightly faster but as she showed recently in London it is not all about the speed in track sprinting. Yet I am afraid her and many of the public may be disappointed especially as she seems to be the female match to Hoy when it comes to being the UK team poster lass.

Also there now seems to be Guo and Krupekaite coming through who also may give here a run for her money.
