Title: 2021 Tour de France CQ game
Post by: Armchair Cyclist on June 18, 2021, 00:23
Must be time to start this one up.

For those who already know the games:  4000 points, 8 riders, prices as of 20th June, selection tool (https://drive.google.com/file/d/11gvzg3VlLIe-1TNdtaackrMwXbtcnePP/view?usp=sharing), submit by 12:30 pm French time on 26 June.

If that does not tell you all you need to know, here is the fuller explanation.  This is the latest in a series of games for which the points scheme at cqranking.com (http://cqranking.com) provides both the cost of the riders and the reward scale for their performance.

You have to select 8 riders whose total cost is 4000 points (or less), the cost of each rider being his CQ score for the year to 20th June (these were released in a CQ download on 21st); the points he can score are those given for stage top tens, GC position, KoM and Sprints Classifications and Yellow jersey wearer.  The prices, start-list (as it gradually moves towards confirmation), and the scoring tables are in a spreadsheet here. (https://drive.google.com/file/d/11gvzg3VlLIe-1TNdtaackrMwXbtcnePP/view?usp=sharing)

That spreadsheet (or the team lists that will usually appear in this thread a few days before the race starts) will also give the version of names that I would ask you to use when you send in your team: it makes my task of entering the teams into the game's spreadsheet easier if you would follow that name format (Surname[space]Forename; but care with Danish, Portuguese, Spanish and some other names is needed).

I will provide a daily breakdown of scores and standings, based on projected positions as the race progresses, and there will be a secondary classification (the green jersey game), based on stage points only.

Send your team to me by PM on VeloRooms or Cycling News forum before the race starts at 12:30 (French time) on Saturday 26th.  If  you choose anyone who does not start, or your team is overbudget, I will replace the non-starter (or cheapest single rider who can be removed to bring you under budget) with the next cheapest rider (and first alphabetically if there is more than one of the same price).  If you don't leave it until the last moment, I will be able to alert you if there are any problems with your selection.

Edit on 21st June: Prices are now confirmed, as are many of the team line-ups, so it is time to start thinking about your team.

(Tuesday update) A new player, Alien Performance at CN Forum , was the first to send in a team, and so gets to be moral guardian of my team.

In case you haven't noticed the tweak to the OP, the CQ prices were made available for download this evening, and have now been incorporated into the selection spreadsheet (https://drive.google.com/open?id=11gvzg3VlLIe-1TNdtaackrMwXbtcnePP), and many of the teams have named their line-up.  I await a veritable flood of game entries.

Could be some interesting  combinations: the two main favourites are so expensive that it'll be difficult to back them up with riders expected to score much at all; there are no dead cheap picks to fill up the team (we often have several 5-10 pointers in the line up, but the cheapest here is 28), and the very cheap prices of the Giro game have largely disappeared, as the covid effect on scores is much reduced.

What do you mean? Chris Froome is only 35 points. :lol

Yes, it's going to be a headache, that's for sure.

I'm not sure it's a good thing I was way faster in putting my team together than for the Giro.

But I was quite surprised by the prices of some riders (most too expensive, some quite cheap and I'm not talking Froomey here).

Have fun playing you all.

A day plus two and a half-ish hours to go, a slightly disappointing 16 teams so far.
44 different riders have been named, 20 of them being unique picks while 3 are on at least half of the teams.

Most managers have only about 20 points of spare change after their selection, one managed to spend exactly the 4000 point limit, while two teams have >50 points that they have left unspent.

Four riders costing more than 1000 points have been selected, but (more unusually), only two who cost less than 100.

Popularity rankings so far range from 32% to 90% of the current maximum possible.

Don't forget to get your team in.

And we are off.

First of all, an apology: I seem to have missed a squad replacement for ISN, and I have had Neilands listed rather than Omar Goldstein in the selection tool and in the lists on the forums.  If anyone feels that they were severely mislead by that, and wants to submit their Goldstein-focussed team (or alteration to your team) before the end of today;'s stage, I will admit it.  Otherwise, 39 teams in and the game is underway.

As usual, teams alphabetically, riders by price, unique picks with an asterisk

One team sent me their alternative team, and I have offered the chance to a couple of other teams, to track unselected lineups on the spreadsheet.  It is only a quick copy and paste if you would like me to do that for the team you didn't pick.

74 of the 184 riders have been selected, and while no-one thought that it was worth putting 85% of their budget on Roglic's shoulders, three have decided to go big on Pogacar, costing 2/3 of the funds available.  It is probably fair to say that one day of the Tour de Suisse made a big difference to may selections.

Rider popularity
30 teams (out of 39): URAN URAN Rigoberto
25: THOMAS Geraint
19: LOPEZ MORENO Miguel Angel
18: KELDERMAN Wilco
17: HAIG Jack
15: HIGUITA GARCIA Sergio Andres
14: EWAN Caleb, GEOGHEGAN HART Tao
I will treat that group of 8 as the Collective Wisdom team.  It is over budget (4107), but if I were to drop Ewan for the next most popular it would be way below, and would be even more similar to some of the teams.  It gives us something to compare ourselves with anyway.

11: BUCHMANN Emanuel
10: CAVENDISH Mark, HAMILTON Lucas, O'CONNOR Ben
9: BOL Cees
7: SAGAN Peter
6: LUTSENKO Alexey, MCNULTY Brandon
5: KRUIJSWIJK Steven
4: CARAPAZ MONTENEGRO Richard Antonio, COQUARD Bryan, GARCIA CORTINA Ivan
3: ALAPHILIPPE Julian, BILBAO LOPEZ DE ARMENTIA Pello, FROOME Chris, GAUDU David, GREIPEL André, GUARNIERI Jacopo, POGACAR Tadej
2: ARANBURU DEBA Alexander, COLBRELLI Sonny, GOGL Michael, MAJKA Rafal, MEINTJES Louis, MEURISSE Xandro

There are a lot of fairly similar teams: 13 have Thomas, Uran and Lopez.  The minor picks could be key... (and I started writing that before Lopez became less of a GC candidate today)

Picks of over 750 points

Stage 1 Falling like skittles, and Ala on a mur

Green points
For our new entrants (great to have you), these points cannot be lost, and are earned by the top ten in each stage.  Unlike the Tour's Green Jersey, the same points scale applies to every stage, so climbers can be just as valuable here as sprinters.
Riderpoints teams
ALAPHILIPPE Julian      80      3
MATTHEWS Michael      50      0
ROGLIC Primoz      35      0
HAIG Jack      25      17
KELDERMAN Wilco      15      18

GAUDU David      5      3
HIGUITA GARCIA Sergio Andres      3      15
MOLLEMA Bauke      2      0
THOMAS Geraint      1      25

I'll normally only give the top ten (or so) in this classification, but for today, let's all get a mention, as nearly everyone has scored.  The three Alaphilippe teams are clear to see: Salvaranni also has Gaudu and Higuita.
1      Salvarani      88
2      BicycleBoy      81

Yellow Points
This is the main game: the points for each rider, and therefore the teams, are the sum of stage points, GC and sprint/KoM classifications projected as though current positions are held on the last stage, and the 20 points given each day to the overnight leader (Yellow jersey bonus).  Thus Alaphilippe now has 80 stage points +600 as putative GC winner as it stands + 80 as leader of the points classification + 50 as 2nd in polka dot category + 20 as overnight leader =830 points.  Because he can lose places in GC and the two jersey classifications, he can lose points, but the stage and yellow jersey points are secure, even if he were to fail to reach Paris.

Last, but by no means least, is the inter-forum battle, with teams representing Cycling News Forum and VeloRooms, with the mean average score being taken for each group.  There have always been more teams in the CN camp, but this time the imbalance of numbers is more marked, which I guess makes the performance of each VR team more important.

CN (AlienPerformance, Berflamand, BicycleBoy, BlueRoads, BluesInTheBottle, Bminchow, Bonimenier, Comodoro, Del1962, DJSprtsch, Earns1985, Fivezzz, Googolplex, JonEzeitza, Kazistuta, Koronin, Laarsland, Lecko, Northerner, Pantani_lives, Ray10, RedheadDane, Rufs, Salvarani, Shalgo, Titan31, Triley36, Vladimir, Yellow_Knight)  825
VR (AmisVelo, ArchieBoy, BikeRacer33, Leadbelly, Mellow_Velo, Otoxiep87, Rote_Laterne, Search, ZakaFan)  805
My score is not included in this: my neutrality is impeccable.

To investigate further, the spreadsheet is updated (so long as I remember to press save) each night as I do the update, and is available at the same location (here (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ugqkB1BDXs-CgMDjVZrnpjwvGtojVeXa/view?usp=sharing)) throughout, although I won't post the link every evening.

And for the sake of my work, I hope I will normally have updates done rather earlier than this.

Stage 2 Mathieu on a mur, in Mûr

VAN DER POEL Mathieu      80      1 (Blue Roads)
POGACAR Tadej      50      3 (Amis Velo Blues in the Bottle Shalgo)
ROGLIC Primoz      35      0
KELDERMAN Wilco      25      18
ALAPHILIPPE Julian      15      3
MOLLEMA Bauke      10      0
VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas      5      0
HIGUITA GARCIA Sergio Andres      3      15
LATOUR Pierre      2      0
HAIG Jack      1      17

Green points
today
1      BlueRoads      80
2=      AmisVelo      53
2=      BluesInTheBottle      53
4      Shalgo      50
5=      Bminchow      29
5=      Fivezzz      29
7=      BikeRacer33      28
7=      Comodoro      28
7=      Rote_Laterne      28
10=      Six teams with Kelderman and Haig      26
16=      Seven teams with Kelderman alone      25

Standings
The top eleven is yesterday's top ten, plus today's top scorer.  Some days several teams get multiple good scorers, some days they don't.
1      Salvarani      106      0
2      BicycleBoy      96      0
3      DJSprtsch      95      0
4      BlueRoads      80      33
5      Bminchow      73      -1
5      Fivezzz      73      -1
7      AlienPerformance      67      -1
7      Berflamand      67      -1
7      Bonimenier      67      -1
7      Laarsland      67      -1
7      Otoxiep87      67      -1

Yellow points
I mentioned yesterday that because most of these points are projections, they can be lost.  Alaphilippe is still doing well, but he is now second, not first, in the GC rankings, and has fallen in the KoM rankings, so his score is still good, but 160 points lower than it was yesterday.
I show the riders who are the main gainers and losers that have been selected each day, like these:
VAN DER POEL Mathieu      758      1
POGACAR Tadej      203      3
KELDERMAN Wilco      30      18
KRUIJSWIJK Steven      24      5
QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander      22      1
BUCHMANN Emanuel      20      11
LUTSENKO Alexey      20      6
SOLER GIMENEZ Marc      -20      1
BOIVIN Guillaume      -27      1
GAUDU David      -71      3
HAIG Jack      -72      17
THOMAS Geraint      -88      25
ALAPHILIPPE Julian      -160      3

Team change on the day
Because a rider's score can be negative on the day, so can a team's.
1      BlueRoads      769
2      AmisVelo      250
3      Shalgo      215
4      BluesInTheBottle      176
5      Rote_Laterne      87
6      Ray10      27
7      Mellow_Velo      14
8      Del1962      -3
9      Koronin      -17

38      Salvarani      -208
39      BicycleBoy      -235
      Collective_Wisdom      -121

Standings
So although Salvarani lost a load of points today, he is still top of the game: daily scores can be misleading. And we can probably assume that rises of 34 places only happen in the very early stages of the game.

Sprint stages, like tomorrow, usually see little change other than the stage points and the yellow bonus.  But tomorrow might not be a typical sprint.

Stage 3  Falls all over the place, and a sprint from a very small group

My last words yesterday were, "But tomorrow might not be a typical sprint," but I don't think any of us expected that.
Even the sprinters that were chosen were not the ones to score most.
MERLIER Tim      80      0
PHILIPSEN Jasper      50      1

Yellow points
Carapaz aside, few riders increased their standings (and therefore their projected points) by positive action, and more by passing those who lost position due to misfortune.
CARAPAZ MONTENEGRO Richard Antonio      298      4
QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander      90      1
PHILIPSEN Jasper      60      1
COLBRELLI Sonny      31      2
ALAPHILIPPE Julian      10      3

BILBAO LOPEZ DE ARMENTIA Pello      -59      3
POGACAR Tadej      -130      3
HAIG Jack      -262      17

Ray10 has Carapaz, but Higuita; Rote Laterne has Carapaz, but Higuita and Kruijswijk; and the other Carapaz teams, Archie Boy and Mellow Velo, have the gains wiped out by Haig (and Kruijswijk and Lopez in MV's case).  The unexpected bonus of Quintana gaining 90 points on a sprint stage is gained by Del1962.

Stage 4 Heartbreak for van Moer, then Cav rolls back the years.

CAVENDISH Mark      80      10
BOUHANNI Nacer      50      0
PHILIPSEN Jasper      35      1
MATTHEWS Michael      25      0
SAGAN Peter      15      7
BOL Cees      10      9
LAPORTE Christophe      5      1
PEDERSEN Mads      3      0
VAN POPPEL Boy      2      0
GREIPEL André      1      3

Green points
Today:
Some teams seem more made for stage points like today's than trying to harvest the GC points: Earns (a new player, good to see rookies making an impression on the game) has Cavendish, Sagan and Laporte, and 5 teams have Cavendish and Bol (and two of them also have Greipel)
1      Earns1985      100
2=      Googolplex      91
2=      Lecko      91
4=      Kazistuta      90
4=      Otoxiep87      90

7=      Del1962      80
7=      Leadbelly      80
7=      Northerner      80
11      Pantani_lives      35

Standings
Most of those who have been high in the rankings since stage 1 have now dropped away, but the manager who has been top since then extends his lead.
1      Salvarani      209      0
2      Otoxiep87      160      6

Yellow points
There are changes in the Points classification, and a few swaps of GC position on countback among riders on the same time, but most of today's points are from the finish.
CAVENDISH Mark      160      10
PHILIPSEN Jasper      35      1

Time trials are likely to bring considerable change to the tables, and we should see some of the riders who do not have trus GC potential drop down the GC rankings a bit, so we should get closer to a realistic table.   "should".

Stage 6 Chateauxroux III, this time it's personal

It was too late for me to add much comment on the results for stage 5, today it is simply that there is little to comment on as it was the archetypal sprint stage.

CAVENDISH Mark      80      10
PHILIPSEN Jasper      50      1
BOUHANNI Nacer      35      0
DEMARE Arnaud      25      0
SAGAN Peter      15      7
BOL Cees      10      9
MERLIER Tim      5      0
VAN AERT Wout      3      0
MATTHEWS Michael      2      0
PEDERSEN Mads      1      0

 Green

Points today:
1      Earns1985      95Cavendish & Sagan
2=      Googolplex/Kazistuta/Lecko/Otoxiep87/Salvarani   90 Cavendish & Bol
7=      Bonimenier/Del1962/Leadbelly/Northerner      80 Cavendish
11      Pantani_lives      50 Philipsen
12      JonEzeitza      25 Sagan & Bol
13      BluesInTheBottle/DJSprtsch/Koronin/RedheadDane/ZakaFan      15 Sagan
18      ArchieBoy/Laarsland/Ray10      10 Bol

Standings:
Only 9 of the Cavendish teams are in this top ten: the other one is 11th.  Pantani Lives, courtesy of Philipsen, is the interloper.
1      Salvarani      299      0
2      Otoxiep87      250      1
3      Bonimenier      227      2
4      Googolplex      225      4
4      Lecko      225      4
6      Earns1985      221      4

8      Del1962      201      4
8      Pantani_lives      201      -4
10      Northerner      193      4

Yellow points
20 for MvdP as the yellow jersey wearer, to mitigiate his losses in the points 'classement', but hardly any GC change to effect the scores.  Because Philipsen could move up in the green jersey placings and Cav couldn't (already being top), he has more of a point boost today.

Stage 7 The Morvans might be more interesting than the Alps or Pyrenees

But not for the stage points
MOHORIC Matej      80      1
STUYVEN Jasper      50      0
CORT NIELSEN Magnus      35      1
VAN DER POEL Mathieu      25      1
ASGREEN Kasper      15      0
BONNAMOUR Franck      10      0
KONRAD Patrick      5      1
VAN AERT Wout      3      0
VAN MOER Brent      2      0
GODON Dorian      1      0

1      Lecko      80
2      BikeRacer33      35
3      BlueRoads      25
4      DJSprtsch      5
Of these, only Lecko is in the top 10 in the Green points classification, and he moves from joint 4th to top, removing Salvarani who has been there since stage 1.

Yellow points
Although there was very little of game relevance in the stage result, it has given the GC a real shake-up, such that among the top 23 riders this morning, only MvdP is in the same position this evening.

Standings

The teams who were first and second this morning were the last two in the daily scores,opening the door for Leadbelly to step up from third to take the lead with what looks like a very healthy margin.  But he doesn't have Pogacar, and the other virtual podium teams do.

So, can a team of balanced spends with a sprinter and a bunch of top five contenders see off those with the very expensive winner and, essentially, cheap makeweights?  We will see as the yellow jersey bonus points pile up.  There again, the fall down the GC table that must be expected from Van Aert cannot benefit Pogacar's score, and it can boost other riders'.

Of the 14 teams in this who already had been in the Giro and Spring classics game, Leadbelly and Otoxiep were already first and second on total scores before the Tour started, so their being in the same positions here means the 4 seasons title looks to be a two horse race.

All these numbers, and more (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ugqkB1BDXs-CgMDjVZrnpjwvGtojVeXa/view?usp=sharing)

Enjoy your rest day: I'll be trying to get the Emerging Riders games through their monthly updates.

We will all feel that a stage like tomorrow should bring some significant change to the GC projection points, but I suspect most of us fear that the stage may be between rare picks in a breakaway and that Pogacar getting 20 more yellow points is about as much as will be seen.

Stage 12  Haven't had a chance to watch it, but from what I read, I missed little.

POLITT Nils      80      0
ERVITI OLLO Imanol      50      0
SWEENY Harrison      35      0
KÜNG Stefan      25      0
MEZGEC Luka      15      0

THEUNS Edward      5      0
VAN MOER Brent      3      0
ALAPHILIPPE Julian      2      3
HENAO MONTOYA Sergio Luis      1      0

Green Jersey
Googolplex, Lecko and Search have Greipel
BicycleBoy, DJSprtsch and Salvarani have Alaphilippe

Lecko remains 2nd, Salvarani  stays 4th, Googolplex moves up one place to 6th

That's all.

Yellow points
The GC action was about as notable as the green points in the game.

Will tomorrow be any more decisive in  the game?  Strongest hints are probably to be found in the weather forecast.

A couple more Cavendish wins and it might be enough to offset some of my riders fading in week three. The big GC gap after Cattaneo also plays somewhat in my favour.

However as we saw today, a small bit of gravel on a corner could ruin everything in a flash.

Of the Cavendish teams that dominate, only Salvarani, Kazistuta and Northerner score in this classification today.  Blues in the Bottle becomes the top non-Cavendish team, but 105 points behind the lowest of these.  Salvarani regains is lead of the first few stages.

Yellow points

Guillaume Martin gained GC 270 GC points, but nobody had him, so the main story will be the points lost by those he overtook. Polka dot points also got a bit of a shake up.

So  VeloRooms 1256, Cycling News 1050

Riders out of the race (not counting any rest day withdrawals: I haven't read much race news today)

Stage 16 These breakaways do little for most of our scores.

KONRAD Patrick      80      1
COLBRELLI Sonny      50      2
MATTHEWS Michael      35      0
PERICHON Pierre-Luc      25      0
BONNAMOUR Franck      15      0
ARANBURU DEBA Alexander      10      2
SKUJINS Toms      5      1
BAKELANTS Jan      3      0
GAUDU David      2      3
ROTA Lorenzo      1      0

Green points
No-one had more than one of the top ten, so you don't need me to tell you which managers had which riders.

1      DJSprtsch      80
2      Rufs      50
2      Search      50
4      Koronin      10
4      Yellow_Knight      10
6      ZakaFan      5
7      Comodoro      2
7      Salvarani      2
7      Vladimir      2

Salvarani was top anyway, and no-one else in the top ten in this classification, but DJS is now the closest to it.

Yellow points
The main GC guys defeated the rest of the peloton, but not each other, so little change again.

More of the same tomorrow?

Stage 18  They have now climbed every mountain

I suggested yesterday, "More of the same tomorrow?"  More so than ever before, as this is apparently the first time in tour history that the top three on the stage has been the same twice in a row.

POGACAR Tadej      80      3
VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas      50      0
CARAPAZ MONTENEGRO Richard Antonio      35      4
MAS NICOLAU Enric      25      0
MARTIN Daniel      15      0
KUSS Sepp      10      1
HIGUITA GARCIA Sergio Andres      5      15
O'CONNOR Ben      3      10
KELDERMAN Wilco      2      18
VALVERDE BELMONTE Alejandro      1      0

Green points
1=      AmisVelo/BluesInTheBottle      85Pogacar/Higuita
3      Shalgo      80 Pogacar
4      Rote_Laterne      42 Carapaz/Higuita/Kelderman
5      Ray10      40Carapaz/Higuita
6=      ArchieBoy/Mellow_Velo      35 Carapaz
8      Triley36      18 Kuss/Higuita/O'Connor
9=      BikeRacer33/Comodoro/Fivezzz      10 Higuita/O'Connor/Kelderman

And the top ten, for the first time in many stages, is not the ten Cavendish teams, as all three Pogacar teams break in to the frame.
1      Salvarani      555      0
2      Otoxiep87      541      0
3      Bonimenier      517      1
4      Lecko      516      -1
5      Leadbelly      500      0
6      BluesInTheBottle      442      5
7      Shalgo      428      5
8      AmisVelo      427      6
9      Googolplex      423      -3
10      Kazistuta      422      -3

Yellow points
It's not only the top three that makes this similar to yesterday, it is also Uran losing a lot of points for a lot of teams and Pogacar moving up the GPM table.

POGACAR Tadej      130      3
VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas      76      0
MAS NICOLAU Enric      55      0

QUINTANA ROJAS Nairo Alexander      -23      1

URAN URAN Rigoberto      -160      30

9 teams didn't include Uran, 9 teams get a positive score today. Cause and effect epitomised.

Standings
Now that Cavendish is no longer at great risk of being eliminated by the watch, Leadbelly should be safe, but the two teams chasing still have a confident 40 yellow points and a good haul from the TT to come, so it will probably need Cavendish to get two clear of Merckx for anyone else to reach the podium.  Only 1 point separates those teams (Elissonde, Meurisse, Chevalier and Froome bringing one point more than McNulty, Buchmann and Higuita).

Yellow points
The main thing that happened on GC is that Lopez won't get points for finishing (Woods likewise, but one team affected rather than 19)

I would normally expect a time trial to cause a bit of a shake up in the rankings, but where riders are not separated by very large time gaps, at least towards the top of GC, the better TTer is in front anyway.  So tomorrow might see the sorts of scores in the game more typical of a breakaway stage.

Bminchow and I have 6 riders in common, 5 of whom are now DNF...

Stage 20 Time trial that changed almost nothing

Won't change the Green game much either:
VAN AERT Wout      80      0
ASGREEN Kasper      50      0
VINGEGAARD RASMUSSEN Jonas      35      0
KÜNG Stefan      25      0
BISSEGGER Stefan      15      1
CATTANEO Mattia      10      1
BJERG Mikkel      5      1
POGACAR Tadej      3      3
CORT NIELSEN Magnus      2      1
VAN BAARLE Dylan      1      0

Green points
1      Titan31      15
2      RedheadDane      10
3      JonEzeitza      5
4=      AmisVelo      3
4=      BluesInTheBottle      3
4=      Shalgo      3
7      BikeRacer33      2

The three Pogacar teams are in the top ten overall, but with only 3 points each for them today they don't improve their position, there is a good chance that they will all drop out tomorrow if Cavendish gets that record.

Yellow points

POGACAR Tadej      23      3
BISSEGGER Stefan      15      1
CATTANEO Mattia      10      1
BJERG Mikkel      5      1
CORT NIELSEN Magnus      2      1
KUSS Sepp      2      1
POWLESS Neilson      1      1
ELISSONDE Kenny      -2      1

I don't think I ever remember a day with so few scorers on a day in a GC game, and with no negative points at all
1=      AmisVelo      23
1=      BluesInTheBottle      23
3      Shalgo      21
4      Titan31      15
5      RedheadDane      10
6      JonEzeitza      5
7=      BikeRacer33      2
7=      Triley36      2
9      Koronin      1

Not a single change in positions, so not much point in a standings table: see above.

A bit later, just so that you could enjoy the suspense (about as much as having Stage 21 in the evening when there is a 5 minute + lead)

Stage 21 Paris et finis

VAN AERT Wout      80      0
PHILIPSEN Jasper      50      1
CAVENDISH Mark      35      10
MEZGEC Luka      25      0
GREIPEL André      15      3
VAN POPPEL Danny      10      0
MATTHEWS Michael      5      0
ARANBURU DEBA Alexander      3      2
BARTHE Cyril      2      0
WALSCHEID Maximilian      1      1

Last batch of Green points

Two of the Cavendish teams also have Greipel, that equals Pantani's points from Philipsen.
1      Googolplex      50
1      Lecko      50
1      Pantani_lives      50
4      Bonimenier      35
4      Del1962      35

4      Leadbelly      35
4      Northerner      35
4      Otoxiep87      35
4      Salvarani      35
12      Search      15

Final Green points
Third for Cavendish was good enough for two of his teams to get back into the top ten, but not all three.  It *was* possible to beat Cavendish.
1      Lecko      646      0
2      Salvarani      615      0

Congratulations to Leadbelly, and to Shalgo and Amis Velo for filling the podium.  It is probably good for the game that a well balanced team with multiple top ten riders and a good sprinter can prevail against teams with a probably predictable (although expensive) race winner who picks up 260 yellow jersey points.

A fairly comprehensive win for Velorooms, which has 1st, 3rd and 5th, and only one of the bottom 11 teams.

Thanks to the riders, the Tour, CQ and PCS websites, and to everyone who took part, and I'll hope to see you all again for La Vuelta in about 3 weeks (and later today, or maybe tomorrow, with some data crunching, but all the numbers are here in the spreadsheet. Thanks as always Armchair! All hail me I guess!

I’d obviously like to thank a few people. I’d like to thank Charlie Crichton, for doing the plot with me, and Jamie and Kevin for writing their parts. I would like to thank Michael Palin, for checking the scene numbers. I’d also like to thank John Comfort, Jonathan Benson, Roger Murray-Leech, Hazel Pethig, Glenn Palmer-Smith, Cynthia Kaylor, Maria Aitkin, Jonathan Aitkin, Lord Beaverbrook, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jacques Cousteau and his wife Mimi, Soren Kierkegaard, Gisela Werbisek-Piffle, Sonny Liston, Anne Hayden-Jones and her husband Pip, Gregor Mendel - the founder of the science of genetics, my tailor, Harriet Beacher-Stowe - author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the London Symphony Orchestra brass section, the Leyton Orient strikers, Mother, Bismarck, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Birds, Sir Basil Smallpiece

[long pause]

St Francis of Assisi, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Earl Haig, Wile E. Coyote, Mother Teresa, Herb Alpert, and his Tijuana Brass, Hermann Goering, Dame Agatha Christie, the planet Saturn and, of course, all of its rings, Joan Collins, The Publicity Department of Turkish Airways, the unknown soldier, Tammy Wynette, and last, but of course not least, God.

Best winners speech!

Congrats Leadbelly to your deserved win and a big thank you to AC for not only putting this together but also sparing the participants of this game the disgrace of the last place :).
