#fantini Didier Chaparro --> Mundial de Tornillos - Pijaos Web

https://twitter.com/RobayoColombia/status/693248047753629696

this seems to be a new Colombian (continental? domestic? article says "professional") team, they also signed Félix Barón, who was a stagiare with #colombia Colombia last year.
Probably domestic - probably doesn't take a lot to make riders 'professionals' in Colombia.
It's a bit late for a Conti registration now, that should have been done by mid-January.

I wonder if he started working in his uncle's carpentry, and after a month the uncle said: "You know, we're all better off if you keep riding your bike and get our company logo on the jersey of the team you're riding for." :shh

not really what he hoped for I guess, but maybe he can get some good results and step up again next year. Usually Unieuro should be invited to lots of (mostly Italian) races very well suited to him.

edit: for everyone to lazy to click that link and even scroll down to the English version of the Unieuro press release:

    Quote
Big hit for Unieuro Wilier Trevigiani that signed a contract with Mauro Finetto for 2016 season. The 30 years old from Tregnago (VR), grew up in this group before moving in 2008 in the highest category, comes back "home" after 7 seasons (plus one in mtb) and 9 victories as a professional rider.

«I could accept other solutions but I wanted to take this choice for many reasons. In Unieuro Wilier Trevigiani I'll be back in the family where I really learned the cyclist job, working methodically, professionalism, sacrifice. I'll be back by those who have taught all this to me, with Mirko Rossato (Unione Ciclisti Trevigiani advisor) which for me, after two other important figures like Armando Zambaldo and Lucio Cavalleri, was first a director with great charisma and now is a true friend» said Mauro, who will start his 2016 with the blueorange jersey next Sunday in Trofeo Laigueglia.

«I leave behind those who have treated me very badly. I trusted my former team, I was wrong and I do not want to add other words on this issue. For a season I will have to set aside some objectives, but now I look to the future with new goals to achieve, one for all is to make this Continental project grow. I hope that also with my contribution this team will reach the top category, this is one more reason for me to marry this cause. The road for me in recent years has not been easy at all, but there is still time to do something and who knows me knows how much stubborn I am. I want to apologize and to thank all the friends and fans who have made me feel their affection in this period during which I preferred to isolate myself, to avoid having to explain things ... I do not know how to explain. Thanks to Unieuro Wilier Trevigiani, president Barzi (in the photo with Finetto, ed) for the warm welcome and I hope it will be a good season for everyone».

«Mauro is a very valuable engagement for our team, is a rider to which we are very attached and that, for his own good, we were hoping he had found a place in a Professional or World Tour team» says team manager Marco Milesi. «With his engagement and that of Malaguti our roster increased and, compared to the initial plans, this leads to some changes to our calendar. We have decided to increase the number of races to be able to give space to all our athletes, from the youngest to the most experienced. We will race several national and international competitions with the Under-23 than we had initially planned, in addition to the races in the top category, where a rider like Mauro will be obviously our point of reference».

    some strong words there

Kai Reus gets a pro contract with #verandas for 2016 after his impressive showing in OHN.

Indeed Reus might even have done better at OHN had he not punctured soon after being absorbed by the leading group of Van Avermaet, Sagan, Benoot and Rowe.

Only four other riders in the team are actually contracted, which is to say they're the only ones on the payroll. These are: Stef Van Zummeren, Joeri Calleeuw, Aidis Kruopis and recent West Flanders stage winner Timothy Dupont.

The Dutchman, who is only 30 despite those old memories of his terrible crash in 2007, will continue with the team for this year but managers expect him to step up if he remains consistent.

    I'm happy too. :)
He's been in the Citracca/Scinto team since his U23 days, was a decent (not great) pro getting a couple of top-10s and doing his job well - and then he's dropped just like that.

Which differentiates him from the rest of the Lampre squad how, exactly?

Hard to disagree when we see that a lot of WT teams are pretty top-heavy these days. He and Benoot make a great pair of leaders for the future when Greipel no longer has to carry the team through the leaner times.
