De Lie --------> #lotto

Not too surprising.

---------------------

Already known that he could be leaving. This is the first rumour of a destination.

    Cimolai + Viviani ----------> #deceuninck ?

    Nizzolo ---------> Renewal or #total or #iwg ?

    Cofidis no longer an option for the Italian it appears.

    more from #iwg Hilaire in yesterday's Het Nieuwsblad:

    "We have to strengthen our team with climbers. I would like to get Tiesj Benoot. If he becomes available, I'll make an offer right away. Kristoff is coming. He will replace Van Poppel, who, like Koch, we lost to BORA - hansgrohe.”

    When I heard SEG were shutting shop, I had a quick look at their roster to see who would be available. The name of Strong jumped out and I thought that's the sort of signing I'd like I-SUN to make, but you know the chances of them doing something sensible like that are slim at the best of times. However....

    :fanfare

    ---------------------------------

    Staying with I-SUN, CN are reporting that Cousin Dan hasn't been offered an extension yet. That'd be a shame tbh. Places are tight though for next year and if they could get a replacement of similar pedigree with better descending/TT skills then it might be a bitter pill worth swallowing.

    Cousin Dan is a winner-type rider, though. He doesn't win much, but when he does, he wins big.

    Letting him go would be a bad idea in my opinion. But as you say:
    you know the chances of them doing something sensible like that are slim at the best of times.

    Oy! Lasse Norman will be a double Olympic champion[1]!
    Yes, Gregaard hasn't exactly set the world alight so far, but he's been pigeonholed as a domestique at Astana. Making a step back to make a step forward could work out well.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who started a shortlist in February.
    I didn't exactly start a shortlist - I just thought after his January month "I hope nobody signs him for the 2021 season and makes him ineligible for 2022."
     1. I hope

    Good point!

    No, that's not allowed. But since Delko is falling apart bit by bit (e.g. only racing in France), the team likely won't care. If the UCI hands them a fine for it, can they even pay it?

    There are some strong rumors now that  #unox Markus Hoelgaard is leaving the Uno-x team and will ride for #trek Trek-Segafredo next year. He is a strong rider in the classics but less of a sprinter than your average *no WT-export. On the other hand, he can handle more hills than the previous generations.

    Interesting.
    The team manager just tweeted this: "We cannot provide a WT program yet, and he deserves every opportunity to follow his boy's dream." That sounds like he will be off to a bigger team indeed.
    https://twitter.com/Sykkelsjefen/status/1423517969397780480

    Now, on one hand, #unox has always been about developing riders, and they won't be stopping their riders if they get a WT offer.
    On the other hand, the team has announced that they want to become a WT team for 2023 themselves. - and for that you need a.o. WT-level riders.

    Will they simply 'buy back' Leknessund, Foss, Hoelgaard etc. by offering them a contract again when their current deals run out (but that's only at the end of 2022 for Leknessund and Foss)? You can't build a WT application on Ådne Holter, Lasse Norman Hansen, and Niklas Eg alone.
