Just call me Monsieur Paris-Nice. :shh

    That's a three-peat!

Archie was leading going into the final day (I think) and while looking at his team halfway through the final stage, I saw he had Roglic (who I didn't have) and Van Aert. Surely he was going to win, but somehow or other I cobbled together enough points elsewhere to take it.

Only six of us have entered the league, which is a shame, but it's the cream that has joined. MV must be too intimidated by the talent on show to sign up!

Joao took the win this time. He could even afford to have Mas drop out after his crash.

Just not sufficiently committed, I guess.
Last season I didn't do all there races and none of the late season classics.

FYI I scored 2874 in Tirreno, (Pog, Vingegaard, Caruso, Ganna etc) but suffered badly on the final day of Paris-Nice (Vlasov, Vansevenant) and only scored 2374.

Speaking of not entering leagues, the original classics game is now open for entries. Unfortunately I just don't have time to deal with all the transfers and planning ahead required, but the Velorooms league will still exist for it.

I agree that it's too time consuming, especially after I had a look and found it's really tough.
Plus, another issue I've had since last year is the fact that start lists are completed much later than they used to be and that's why I can't be arsed.

Half this year's league entrants have won a race already! Russell joins the club after his convincing victory here.

I tried a little experiment with my team - all 6 six pointers. I didn't do very well, but even so I wasn't miles away from Josedin whose team cost almost double. Maybe I'll repeat the experiment at the Giro.

I was the only one with Vollering, who if you remember won all three stages at Itzulia and the overall, despite that it was still quite close.

    -------------------------------

Couldn't quite get a vaguely competitive "Half-Price Heroes" team for the Giro, but still went with an under-budget one. In last place, but not too far behind Archie heading into the last few days.

That's very annoying. Kopecky was in my initial team, but this morning she was marked as no longer riding. Therefore I brought Bastianelli, Uneken and somebody else into the team and removed the Belgian, Boilard and somebody else.

Old team results: Kopecky 4th Boilard 9th

New team results: Bastianelli 8th Uneken 69th

Still, the team was good enough for the win. :D

Quick calculation in my head re: the old team, it might have seen me snag a top-ten in the overall league. So that's not as frustrating as it could have been.

Well what do ya know, Josedin isn't just good at CQ games but also at Velogames ones too.

That just leaves one person waiting to break their duck in this season's games. :shh

The riders you wanted to pick from each category were:

All Rounder: Carapaz and Bilbao. Arensman the best cheapie.
Climber: Hindley and Landa. Several very good budget alternatives.
    Sprinter: Demare
Unclassed: MVDP, Lopez and Leemreize. Alternatively Schmid was the best 8-pointer, Lopez the best 6-pointer and Gabburo the best 4-pointer.

Last, but didn't do too badly. Having Hindley, Arensman and Girmay certainly helped.

Just for a bit of fun, let's see where the best cheapest team would have put me in our league.

All Rounder: Arensman (975) Vansevenant (438)
    Climber: Bouwman (1256) Hirt (1113)
    Sprinter: Dainese (697)
    Unclassed: Gaburro (527) Novak (377) Moniquet (294)
    Wildcard: Bayer (269)

Cost 50 points. Score 5946. Still last in other words, but not too far behind my real score.

All those covid withdrawals and crashes led to some low scoring.

New entrant mufcfaan was the best of the bunch, but with 880/4444 being enough to win the league, none of us can be too happy with our performances.

Onward to the Giro Rosa and Not the Tour de France.

My fan team didn't do so well. Woods and Fugly let me down.

The riders you wanted to pick from each category were:

All Rounder: Pogacar and Vingegaard. Other than Thomas there wasn't much point picking anyone else.
Climber: Gaudu and Quintana. A lot more options here
    Sprinter: WVA of course
Unclassed: Pidcock, Cort and Ganna. Alternatively Pidcock was the best 8-pointer, Jungels the best 6-pointer and Van Hooydonck the best 4-pointer.

    Catch-up time.

    Britain:

Unfortunately the race got curtailed. One thing you may have noticed was that daily GC/KoM etc points were still awarded for the three stages which didn't get run. Don't think it made any difference to the final result though.

    Ceratizit:

Nope. Can't remember too much about this one.
